Hello Fellow Spartans!
I’m sure most of you were vastly dissappointed with the Halo 5 campaign.
There were many issues with the campaign so I’m not going to list them here because it would make this post way too long.
So I want to ask you all a question.
What did you hate most about the Halo 5 Campaign?
Personally, I found the worst thing to be that considering Halo 4 did a fantastic job with developing Master Chief as a character, it seems like Halo 5 threw all of that out the -Yoinking!- window. He just seems like a generic super soldier which pains me to call cheif because that’s not what he’s supposed to be. He should’ve been like what he was in Halo 4. A super soldier who is human, has feelings and emotions that make him more human which again, I thought Halo 4 did so well and why I think Halo 4 has one of the best stories in the franchise.
Let’s hope Halo 6 isn’t a disaster like this was.
Have a good one Spartans!
For many reasons, I actually really enjoyed the Halo 5 campaign. But if you wanted me to tell you my biggest negative, it would be a lack of darkness in the story… we were told that Halo 5 would be dark in the lead-up to the game, and while it certainly ended that way (Cortana’s the enemy, she controls everything including AI, ships, Guardians, Halo rings, etc., we’re screwed in effect), we really should have had an impactful death in the story. My guess is we’ll see that in Halo 6, but there are several characters in 5 who could have been killed in a really gut-wrenching way for us as fans. I wish we’d have seen one of those characters go down, as it’d have added much more weight to the story.

An impactful death is surely needed. But who though? Imagine in 6 where the only way for chief to stop cortana is to kill her. That would be such an emotional death not only for chief, but for fans as well i feel and would capture once again the sad “death” of cortana from h4.
I enjoyed the campaign actually, i thought it was quite fun. Only thing i disliked is that we don’t play as the Chief much. Only 3 missons? It should have been split evenly like the Halo 2 campaign.
Hate that the Dev’s wont give us Easter Egg clues
Just did not like how the whole story started afresh really with nothing leading on from Halo 4 or Spartan Ops. I’m surprised Halsey never had her arm back

I think Cortana is virtually a given for that very reason… but I’m still hoping we can bring her back to the light side of the Force! ; )
Major, doable deaths that would impact fans greatly in Halo 6 (no particular order):
-
The Arbiter - Such an amazing character, his death immediately following the liberation of his home world would be tragic, but at least he succeeded in his mission.
-
Chief - If Cortana goes, why not Chief go with her (as it should be, the ending to their story). I doubt it happens due to fan backlash though.
-
Locke, Vale or Buck - Any of those characters (Vale and Buck generally liked, Locke not as much) would be impactful, but particularly if they died in the process of saving the Chief or doing something heroic on the level of Sam from the novels or Jorge from Reach. Unfortunately, though I liked Tanaka ok, I don’t think fans care enough about her to really be impacted by her death, should that come.
-
Any member of Blue Team, but particularly Kelly or Linda - Kelly is beloved by fans of The Fall of Reach, and is John’s closest friend, along with Sam, who died in that same book. Anyone who read those would be distraught at her death, and same for Linda, since she is beloved as the most ridiculous sniper and ally to John throughout the entire series. But again, any of them would be very sad for fans.
-
Halsey - Death to the woman who saved the human race and created the Spartans, who literally is the “mother” to them all? Tough times.
There’s probably more, but those names come to mind. Basically, all of the main characters haha
No character developement and bad dialogue. Nobody got an insight of Vale, Tanaka or even Blue Team… who didn’t read the book “Halo: The Fall of Reach” won’t surely be able to love them just playing Halo 5 because there you can’t feel their greatness

They should make a short game / animation of the book first strike.

They could have done at least a flashback during the Covenant war in Halo 5 as cutscene or even mission… check my full advice to 343 for the Halo 6’s story
The story isn’t the best for sure, but damn the levels on Sanghelios and Genesis are so great

Yeah. If only 343I made a short animation of the Fall of Reach book introducing blue team and why they are so important to the Masterchief when Halo 5 was released.

Same here. I really enjoyed it also.
If I had to call something out though, I’d say I disliked the bullet sponge boss battles. One would have been okay, but the Warden fights over and over and over were unnecessary. I’m still of the mindset that Halo doesn’t need traditional boss fights.
