the issue i am having has to do with the 14 day gold trial in the halo 5 menu. when i fallow the links it says
“something went wrong and we can’t sign you in right now. please try again latter.”
i have tryed the code in the Microsoft store, as well as threw the xbox one. i get the same answer on both
i contacted Microsoft support but they told me to try hear. i am not sure why. i just need help. that is all.i don’t know why its not letting me use the trial.
If you currently have an active Xbox Live subscription then I don’t believe the code will work
i do not have a active subscription.

Try redeeming the code on the website or Xbox app instead.
But that sounds like an issue with redemption or the code itself, not Halo related at all, unfortunately.

Are you saying that you physicaly threw your console? If so, that may be part of the problem.
You have to put the code in the Xbox(go to the Microsoft store and redeem it through there, it just worked for me).
