I remember the first time this commercial aired, I got goosebumps. I felt overwhelmed seeing this fearless hero dive right in. The way he sprints and jumps was just the most sick thing I’ve ever seen.
The idea I have in my head, is that master chief always looks and moves like he knows what he is doing. He’s bold, and he’s not screwing around. I would LOVE to see a Halo 4 trailer similar to this, and honestly, I think it would pull in so many more people.
The marketing/promotion for Halo 3 was amazing. The live-action commercials gave me this sense of reality in the Halo universe. I really think it’s important to hit it just right, not only for the sales, but to really prepare us for something awesome.
The Halo 4 trailer started off nicely with the heart beating, Cortana yelling at John to wake the hell up, and him whipping through the ship all while grabbing and loading a pistol. However, as the chief approached the end of the ship, I was seriously let down. I was braced for something spectacular, met by spectacular music/audio, but it seemed kind of dull to me. I dunno, anyways…
I hope we get a gratifying piece of candy like the Halo 3 trailer, because to this day I pull that video up and think “My. God. That is so awesome!!!”
So a giant planet getting ready to gobble the Chief up is dull? 0.o

That’s no planet. That’s Unicron.
It’s not dull by any means of that, Berzerk. I am just implying that I would like to see an offensive Master Chief like in the Halo 3 trailer, rather than him loading a pistol that seems unnecessary for his situation. I mean, what’s he going to do, shoot it?
I’m just saying that the Halo 3 trailer shows his (arguably) more aggressive side. I think that should definitely be focused on.

How is he supposed to be aggressive against a planet that’s about to gobble him up?
Worry not padawan, other trailers will arise forth from the dust.
Holy hell… the nostalgia from that trailer…
that wasn’t the e3 trailer was it?

Exactly my point, lol. So, why at the end of the trailer did he continue to put a silencer on his pistol? I mean, it’s not like he’s going to need it. He should have pulled out a rifle or something that pertained more to the situation.
Take this for example as well http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2nSvrJ90sDs
The iconic visual here is that Chief is cornered, beaten down, and when all seems lost, he takes the situation by storm. It’s just amazing.

I think what you need to realize is that these trailers you’ve posted aren’t the e3 trailers.

It’s not a silencer, he was reloading the weapon, just saying.

Haha, no man. I realize that. I’m just saying that I hope the actual Halo 4 trailer competes with the nature of the previous trailers. I am strictly going off of the E3 trailer, which when put like you did, is a little unfair. That wasn’t my real intention, sorry!
I don’t have anything that says they won’t do this, but I am saying I really hope they do. The Halo 3 trailer was just awesome!
I also looked up the Halo 3 E3 trailer, and it pretty much delivered the same idea that Halo 4’s E3 trailer did. I think it accomplished it’s purpose, being that we are given the sight of something beyond our imagination and unexplained, and the Chief is just kind of glancing over it in Awe.
So given that, it’s still in the air. Just to return to my original point though, the Halo 4 trailer has a lot to compete with!

My god. Your right! I never caught that! Maybe that is the other single shot weapon they were referring to then? Seriously, I never noticed that before. That’s crazy. I’ve seen that trailer a dozen times too (Gotta remind myself to stay prepared for Halo 4, lol.)
At any rate, that weapon looks a lot like a single-shot grenade pistol or something.

I just looked at it too. It was great and there are many similarities between the Halo 4 and Halo 3 e3 trailers. That said, I’m hoping the Halo 4 trailer, the OFFICIAL trailer, delivers.
