We all know that Halo 4 will take place after Halo 3 in the near future, but how near? And maybe will it be to soon? None of the characters from the first trilogy ,besides the Chief and machines,will return to the game if the timeline is right. By this they will have to make all new characters for the trilogy maybe based on passed characters to have a good charcter plot. I only hope they stick to the timeline at a minimum of 50 years after the events in Halo 3. I heard that Glasslands is set only mere moments after Halo 3 (haven’t read it yet because it doesn’t come out here until 2 december 2011).
And (if I’m not mistaking) Glasslands is set prior to Halo 3 (just moments, i think).

It’s mostly set just after the Battle of Earth but before the memorial scene at the end of Halo 3.
