The Halo 4 Map Remake: To Be, Or Not to Be?

Alright, so in the past, we’ve seen the fan favorites make a return in previous Halo titles. Blood Gulch made a comeback from CE to Halo 2, and Halo 3’s Valhalla was resurrected as Ragnarok in Halo 4. And don’t even get me started on all the Halo 2 and even CE remakes or reminiscent maps in Halo 3. Heck, even the Pit returned in the Champions Bundle.

So (even though this topic has probably been covered like, a year ago…), what map from Halo 4 do you think deserves to be back for round two in Halo 5: Guardians?

A map with the recognizable ‘base at either end’ geography, such as Exile and Longbow? Or just a map that you overly enjoyed, and find yourself rooting for as to a remake…?
Or do you want no trace of H4 in Halo 5?

I’d personally like Exile or Haven to comeback.

Leave your thoughts below!

I actually had to look at a list of all Halo 4’s multiplayer maps. I had even forgotten some of them.

There are a few that comes to mind.

Crimson Map Pack Shatter:

I liked this map because it felt a little more complex than other maps, I enjoyed playing on that map a lot. It had a lot to offer.

Castle Map Pack Outcast:

I absoulutley hate stuff set in sandy/deserty areas, but I enjoyed playing on Outcast. It offered quite a few routes for vehicles as well as infantry. Playing on it was always interesting.

Daybreak

Blood Gulch in a different light. Not as vast, not as open, bases different but it kind of reminded me of blood gulch.

These are the maps I could imagine seeing remakes of in Halo 5. Then again, I’m the person who’d like Boarding Action back from Halo CE in some way.

Also, looking through that list, I really miss playing on those maps. Brought back quite a few fun memories of wins and fails.

I could see Sandbox or Sandtrap map coming back, considering the desert theme from trailers.

Haven is the first that comes to mind!

The real problem with Halo 44, among others is that 343 didn’t incorporate the DLC maps in matchmaking like they should have. That way maybe the DLC would have made a lasting impression on me.

But Yeah here is the list:

Haven (I just love the flow of this map)
Ragnarok/Vahalla
Ravine
Landfall (I love that Map but there are no playlists for it)

To a lesser extent I would say the following could make a comeback to:

Perdition (Just because I always wanted to know how much fun it would be with Big Team variants but never had the chance to)
Vertigo
Skyline
Monolith.

That’s my list…

Guys remember. The DLC maps for Halo 4 will be in the Master Chief Collection and will show up. You’ll be able to check them out then even if the Big Team playlist is mixed.

OP if I had to choose 2 maps from Halo 4 to remake, it would have to be Haven and Daybreak. Haven because it was prett fun as an arena styled map. Daybreak because it was an interesting take on BTB maps and played a lot like some Halo 2 maps. Runners up would be Longbow and Outcast and Exile.

There were actually a lot of decent and even really good maps in Halo 4. It’s just the base maps were not very good and those good maps got really tiring after a while. Except for Harvest pretty much all the DLC maps played really well.

Haven, while it is voted for an awful lot and can soon get tiresome it has a certain charm of the original Halo maps from back in the day.

I’m sure that I’m a minority here, but Exile.

The only Halo 4 maps I can recall by name are Wraparound and the Coagulation-looking one, Exile I think it’s called. So probably those ones.

Wraparound was a codename for Haven. This is Exile right here.

Skyline.

Hmmmmm… interesting! Mostly DLC maps, and the ones most of you chose that are default (Haven and Exile) are the ones I would have to pick!

So, why DLC? Just not getting to really play them in H4 multiplayer, really liking the map, or both?

Huh… I does have the classic reminiscence of Blood Gulch to it! Daybreak was probably my favorite DLC map, and I wouldn’t mind if it returned at all.

Most of the non-DLC maps are arguably poorly designed, so there’s one reason.

I really liked Skyline, but I’ve never played any of the Castle maps in matchmaking thanks to 343i’s horrible DLC support.

It really shouldn’t be a hard concept for them to grasp.

Meh… arguably.
But I could what maps are. However, Harvest wasn’t exactly my cup of tea.

All of the Majestic Pack I loved. Daybreak holds the crown, but those three maps are beautiful.

Oh, and Castle Matchmaking should appear fairly often in Heavies.
But sadly, Ragnarok will appear and be voted for much, much more.

I really enjoyed Exile. It had none of the wasted space of most Halo 4 maps. A good vehicular track, lots of nooks and crannies for CQC but also decently long lines of site for the scoped rifle crowd. I’d dig it if it came back.

Another map I’d love to see remade: Daybreak. Or, you know, I wish I had the chance to actually vote for it in matchmaking. Damn you, $DLC maps. Damn you to perdition.

Speaking of Perdition, haha… It reminds me of Terminal… Urban-ish combat, but with wide spaces and great BR combat. Another great Halo 4 map, like Daybreak, that should have been on disc at launch. Sigh… I sincerely wish I could have played more than maybe 20 games total between Daybreak and Perdition before they disappeared from my voting choices.

Haven has become a classic for me. I absolutely love that map. Never gets old.

The best Halo 4 map and the only one I’d like remade would be Pitfall.

Haven
Ragnarok
Exile

The rest can be safely forgotten. DLC not mentioned here because I don’t have the DLC.

Longbow, Haven, Exile and maybe Vortex. The rest were kind of bland.

I said this for Halo 4 and I’ll say it again for Halo 5, none. Personally, I would like all original maps built special for Halo 5. Remakes are less exciting when we are expecting one every iteration of a game on the disc.
