The Halo 4 armory ideas

This is basicly a repost of my last, only with a few more ideas.

Anyways Welcome to the Halo 4 Armory Ideas forum where you guys can discuss armor ideas and designs, and how to unlock them!

Let me start you off.

First, in order to get an armor we have to unlock it, but how should this be done in Halo 4?

Now, with Reach we had a simple and somewhat frustrating ranking system in which we had to level in order to unlock armors, voices, ect. that we wanted. This usually put people off from the other fun parts of Halo and kinda ruined the experience. Although we consider Halo 3 to be one of the golden games of our life times, it did have some major flaws. This was unlocking the armor as well.
Unlocking armors in Halo 3 was done by mostly gaining achievements. This promoted boosting immensely. But I think a compromise between these two unlocking systems may actually beam a glitter of hope. I say that we keep the credit system. It’s fun earning money from your kills to spend what you want on. The only catch is that credits and experience should be SEPARATE. You may be thinking, how will this work? Well it would be a lot like Call of Duty: Black Ops. In the game, if i recall, money was given to you separate from the xp you earned. Then you bought customizables ( I know it’s not a word) with the money. The same would be in Halo 4. But we don’t end there. We would also be able to unlock armors through achievements/medals (achievements/medals that could only be earned through single player campaign.) This would let you be able to unlock the armors with boosting.

That was a mouthful. Probably gonna get a that’s-what-she-said, but whatever. Now onto the Armory itself. I’ll make this short, I promise. I would love to see a combination of both armories from Halo 3 and Reach with the new Halo 4 look. Now of course some useless attachments from reach would be thrown out, and some unpopular armors from Halo 3 as well. For armor effects, they look nice but they make you a target. Trim down the price a bit. Firefight voices should be same as Reach only with a few more ODST’s and throw in 343 Guilty Spark. I would like to see a forerunner based suit though!

Price is simple, if my idea comes or if we stick with the credit system we have now, tone down the price. I mean really, 300,000 cR just for a helmet that we wore for soon to be 2 and a half games? Ridiculous.

It should be like Halo 3, armour is earned by achievements, finding skulls and campaign related tasks…

Everyone can get them, everyone can enjoy them… and you don’t have to be a sweaty loser who gets all the way to inheritor rank for some Helmet.

I think achievements should be earned through doing campaign(the ones to unlock stuff anyway) by your self only, skulls if they aren’t already given to us. Remember, achievements promote boosting and ruins the fun for online. Try to prevent it as much as possible for the community to thrive again.

my idea:

armory equipment is earned by performing feats.
that would include: earning division placements, campaign difficulties (with skulls enabled being the next level), getting x amount of medals/kills/assists, surviving in firefight (difficulties), achievements

for the division part it should be like this: say there is a helmet. now this helmet is unlocked by earning onyx top 10%. however people that wont get to onyx at all unlock this helmet by getting rated in x seasons and improving their placement or rating atleast once and achieving x amount of medals/kills/assists in the ranked playlist
this would give players an incentive to improve or atleast play ranked. also good people have the chance to show off, but all the things are achievable for everyone.

That’s a good idea, but the problem with using the achievements to unlock the armor permutations, is that some of them you could only earn if you played the game on Normal, Heroic, and Legendary, such as the level completion achievements(This was only done in Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, and Halo: Reach). 343i would have to make it so you could earn achievements regardless of the difficulty setting.

Armour unlocks should be through either campaign achievements, or multiplayer feats which can be achieved in a single game and aren’t tied to a single playlist, e.g. earn an Untouchable medal. With one seriously impressive unlock (Chief and Thel armour?) for those who get to the top rank.

To many players like me play halo just for fun to make us play competitively and go “try-hard” is just unfair and in my opinion doesn’t pay homhage to the old halos

I Think it should be a combination of both Halo 3’s and Reach’s armory system. some things can be unlocked from campaign achievements (finding skulls, completing x mission on y difficulty) and other things you would be able to buy with cR. we cannot go one way or the other though, the big problem with Halo 3’s armory system is that you are limited to the amount of actual armor you can have. I will also have to agree with you about your rank being different than you cR.

Reach had a good system in theory, anyone could unlock their armor of choice by playing the game and spending the credits on what ever they wanted to. Some major problems were that the only “cool” armor was locked untill you’ve grinded/boosted to top rank, and most of the armor pieces was just way to expensive for no reason!

I think that some armor should be unlocked from achievements, armor tied to that achievement, like you’ll get an ODST armor/helmet for completing a Firefight achievement (since Firefight was introduced in ODST) etc.
I also think you should unlock new armor by gaining rank and playing, and be free to choose what armor to unlock too. However, unlike Reach I think we should unlock armor by gaining “exp”, by winning like in Halo 3. That would encourage people to play as a team and not quit or camp for kills.
Getting new ranks should be easier then in Reach, less grind. Maybe we could get to choose one “free” armor/item when we get a new rank, and buy the rest using “exp”?
Rank 3: You unlock Mark IV, V and VI (just as an example). You get to choose anyone of those to get for “free”, and can unlock the others by gaining exp.

Here’s a tip… I you want to get the Halo community on your side don’t compare Halo and COD.

Sorry for pressing reply i don’t know how to message otherwise. In halo 3 I was disappointed that you couldn’t change visor colors unlike halo reach. They should have the red visor color in 4. In reach they have the haunted helmet well in halo 4 I think they should have it when you purchase every single piece of armor there is then for a preferred species you can choose to play as a marine which would be stronger than a spartan for matchmaking.I heard that in halo 4 you have to buy your armor abilities with halopoints, the new kind of credits. I also heard that sprint is default so you could have sprint and jet pack or sprint and active cameo.

I think an expanded RGB color scale would be nice. Include a true black, etc. Have the armor permutations affect your actual defense, but in only slight ways.

This, but in more detail;

Halo 3’s armor customization wasn’t really… well armor in Reach looked as though it would have some function, with gadgets, grenades and whatnot (For aesthetic purposes only.) where in H3, the armor itself just looked like… Shapes for the sake of shapes, if that makes any sense?

H3’s doesn’t look like it would function any differently than default.

I would say make the armor look more like what Reach provided, that is with said gadgets and such (with more armor on top of what we had)

I would also like it if you could mix and match MORE. Having the -Yoink!- pack with the commando was nice, but what if I wanted that pack with my HP/Para Chest piece? My H3 Spartan was Tan and Blue, but secondary in reach is a bit… everywhere? What If I could pin-point what was which color? (I.e; the boots would be steel, the wrist would be blue, ect.)

The whole “using currency to buy things” sounded cool at first, but I think armour should just unlock with rank
