The groundpound shockwave where does it come form?

In Halo 5 we see Spartans have a new groundpound ability which releases a shockwave that damages anything within distance of it. My question is what is causing this shockwave in the first place? What is damaging the objects near it?

Good question. Here’s a plausible theoretical answer:
“After studying many weapons and technology used by the Covenant, along with applying known anti-gravity technology, ONI has incorporated a medium-range shock-field generating gravity drive within the GEN2 MJOLNIR MARK VI armor that produces a powerful shockwave similar to that of the Type-2 Gravity Hammer. This resulting shockwave is a combination of both gravity fluctuations and massive concussive force produced by the initial ground pound. It’s effective range is 5 meters in diameter from point of contact, while its lethal range is 6.2 meters in diameter from point of contact. The shockwave is powerful enough to pulverize stone and instantly shatter all but the strongest of metals such as Tungsten, Depleted-Uranium, Nano-Laminate plating, and dense Hard-Light bonded armor(even pure hard-light I.e. Hard light bridges and shields cannot be broken by the ground-pound). However, if put under enough stress, these materials will eventually give way to the destructive force.”

Hope this helps!

I was going to say atomic Spartan nutz but yours makes more sense.

-Yoink-, I’d believe it.

That made me laugh.

Good enough.

How about we just say it’s just the Spartans punching really -Yoinking!- hard into the ground, of similar character to Space Marines? I honestly wouldn’t feel as badass ground-pounding knowing it’s just some fancy gravity manipulating tech applied to your gauntlets.

Because physics.

For a Spartan to create a shockwave they need to be hitting the ground at the speed of sound right?

Like I said in my theory, its a combination of the extreme force they create when pounding the ground like you are implying, which is then magnified to a significant degree and carried out over a farther distance by the shock field generating gravity drive. Fifty percent of the force comes from the physical impact force, while the remaining fifty percent is the resulting shock wave that is dependent on the amount of energy released from the impact, and said energy is magnified and carried out from the gravity drive. In other words, the gravity drive’s release of energy is dependent on the amount of energy released from the impact force from the ground pound.

Hope this clarifies!

So Spartans are basically gravity hammers.

Did you just make this up?

Yes I did. However, I used scientific information(which is canon), established Halo canon, and established Halo terminologies that are unique to the Halo universe(i.e. “shock-field generating gravity drive”) to back up my theory.

If my theory is true, then more or less yes. But in a more efficient manner as the distribution of energy is spread in a larger area of effect. The Gravity hammer releases energy in front of the user in an approximate 180 degree area of effect with the head of the hammer as the origin. The energy is distributed in the down, left, right, and forward dimensions pertaining to the direction of the hammer’s face, and its effective range is approximately 4.5 meters while the lethal range is approximately 5 meters in accordance to the specified dimensions. The ground pound releases energy around the point of origin(the Spartan’s fist) in a 360 degree area of effect. The energy is distributed in the down, left, right, forward, and backwards dimensions pertaining to the to the point of impact, and as theorized before, the effective range is 5 meters while the lethal range is 6.2 meters.

Hope this clarifies!

EDIT: changed the effective range of the gravity hammer to the correct 4.5 meters and the lethal range to approx. 5 meters as opposed to 2 and 3 meters respectfully.
