Anyone else lamenting the nerfing of the third pillar of Halo? Guns, Melee, GRENADES? A combination of the grenade indicator as well as a much smaller radius and lower damage means the grenade is a lot less of a tool than it used to be. Kind of reminds me of Halo 2, both in their limited power and the puny way Chief throws them. It’s really the only sandbox element of the game I’m not 100% happy with. 343 did a great job, but I’m hoping the 'nades can get a little buff in an update.
I very much prefer the grenades of this game to the hand-held nukes in Reach. They’re still effective, but you’re not gonna get bailed out by their power if you can’t properly place them. Nothing wrong with needing to be accurate to be effective…
I haven’t used these ones yet, but I’m geussing they aren’t mini nukes anymore then?
Thats a good thing in my opinion. Certainly they’ll be less “usefull” because you’ll have to be more accurate, but at least this way I can’t be ten feet from a grenade, have half sheilds, and still die.
I find myself using them less and less, now. They’ve been nerfed dramatically and I don’t like it. Yeah, sure a little nerfing is all they needed, but not to this extent.
Now they aren’t much use unless you make a stick and they barely phase vehicles. And what the hell is the Pulse Grenade about. There’s an initial burst then the blast radius is clearly visible to all an they back away. Talk about useless
I use the thing that gives me 3 grenades on spawn and increases grenade damage and it seems to be working well for me.
Play domination on Exile, go to B base.
You’ll either get shieldless thanks to million grenades, or die to them.
They’re just fine, well placed frag will pop off shields, just like in Halo 3.
With Reach nukes, a warm welcomed nerf to them was inevitable. I am normally opposed to nerfs but in regards to Reach grenukes, it’s warranted due to how OP they are. Just go back and play a couple of games, you’ll start to notice the BS right way.
With Halo 4, i don’t have to call them nukes or grenukes anymore. While they will most certainly be spammed (Exile, Bravo Base anyone?), at least you have the jump and movement to dodge them (along with a smaller but still good blast radius). Yes, these nades can still kill you despite the indicators (which isn’t so bad letting me know nades are being thrown my way; even if i don’t necessarily need to be told that information, it’s always nice to have around i suppose).
343 made the grenades more “fair” for a lack of a better word. It’s much more rewarding knowing your grenade toss was skillfull and not OP (again, unlike Reach). When i die to nades in Halo 4, i don’t call BS because the player did the job by throwing the non OP grenades correctly. In Reach? So much nukes, so OP.
I like the grenades in this game the most. I just have to get the throwing arc right, different in every game.

I don’t get it, I had no problems avoiding grenades in Reach. Now they’re litle more than a minor annoyance. The only grenades that bother me now are the plasmas, and even they only bother me if they’re stuck to me.
