How do Elites speak if they don’t have tongues?
Like seriously how?
Well, their languages doesnt know letter which need a tongue,so lorewise Elites would speak human languages with a strange accent, however to keep them understandable it was removed in the games.

Thank you this was a genuine question
Here’s a question. In Halo 5 an Elite writes a love poem for Palmer. Why would an Elite find a human attractive? Wouldn’t their brains be hardwired to only be attracted to their own species? Or was he just attracted to her combat prowess?

Human brains can find things other than humans attractive, what’s stopping an Elite’s brain from doing the same?

That simple fact seems to somehow be lost on a lot of people :'D
(Plus, y’know… Vel was waxing poetic before he ever saw Palmer fighting. Unless he was somehow able to see into the future, his whole situation boils down to “I was hopelessly lovestruck the second I laid eyes on you.” So, ah… Yeah.)

Ok fine, it’s just I was told that human brains are hardwired to find members of the human species attractive romantically and sexually and figured it would be same with Elites. I actually got the question after debate arose in a Mass Effect forum from being able to romance alien species and someone pointed out the “brain hardwire” thing.
Uh, Sangheili do have tongues. Link
Halo The Thursday War page 136, Jul eating irukan: “Each grain burst on his tongue just the way it was supposed to.”
Halo The Cole Protocol, page 201: “Thel panted heavily and his mandibles were wide open, his tongue flicking the air, by the time they arrived at the top.”
So, that’s how they speak English and any other language. And eat, swallow, etc.
That stench, I’ve smelled it before. With what nose? Also how in Halo did Captain Keys understand what the elites were talking about when he was held captive, they didn’t speak English at the time! I have so many more questions!
I heard somewhere they had smaller tongues in the back of their mouths

You’ve just broke my brain because the grunt in before the storm says something about Elites not having tongues.

Haha you’re welcome. I guess that Grunt wasn’t paying much attention to its leader’s physiology then hehe. Glad to help.
