Alright so as we know the Gravemind on Delta Halo was created sometime before the Human-Covenant War and even thousands of years before the founding of the Covenant Empire. 97,000+ years after breaking out of containment is a long time and while it can be argued the Gravemind existed in all that time as the Flood was able to build and maintain its body. Now that one thinks about it, we really don’t know how long a Gravemind can exist without the addition of new biomass. The Primordial who also so happens to be quite possibly the first Gravemind experienced the passing of billions of years within seconds before its body broke down.
Depending on whether the Gravemind(s) also possess this longevity as the Primordial is unknown but since the threat of the Halo Array firing had already passed. Lets assume a Gravemind can endure the passing of a minimum 90,000+ years without the need of new biomass to sustain itself as we really don’t know how the Flood on Delta Halo created its Gravemind or how it was maintained and when exactly it was made. Okay now having gone off topic slightly we know the Gravemind(s) control the Flood and seeing as how the Gravemind on Delta Halo existed long before Humanity or the Covenant ever learned about its existence until chance or fate brought them together.
Do we know just how far exactly a Gravemind(s) control of the Flood extends? Outside of the outbreak on Delta Halo, we know the Flood came back two seperate times. The first was on the Shield World seen in Halo Wars where a Proto-Gravemind nearly became a Gravemind and then on Alpha Halo. The Flood were able to create a Proto-Gravemind again and while these attempts ended in failure. Does anyone think the Gravemind on Delta Halo was coordinating the Floods efforts in the past all along or were they outside of the Graveminds control. This thought of the Flood faced in Halo Wars and Halo CE being coordinated by the Delta Halo’s Gravemind is almost scary.
