The Grapple Shot is fun but needs more cool down

I like the grapple shot but it needs a longer cool down time. Much longer. I’ve watched people stay in the air and never have to land. Is this just cause 4 or Titanfall 3? It’s too gimmicky and it will break maps. Can you imagine seeing someone on radar but never finding them because they are just grappling from wall to wall way above you, especially on a roofless map.

This is why it has charges…to limit in normal play…meanwhile it will create some of the best forge games

Oh definitely. I’m just saying in mp, possibly even campaign, it needs a much longer cool down.

Maybe, I admit it is one of the strongest equipments we have…I’d really prefer they buff the shield…widen the range of the tracker…and maybe tweak the damage of the repulsor instead of nerfing something though…it’s all limited use …and Halo 3s equipment was way stronger.

you can only use it three times per pickup. Those who were swinging around and never landing were in training mode and had unlimited uses.

OK this does change a lot. I didn’t realize that. Thank you. I still would like to see the cool down longer but this at least keeps it from destroying maps.

It has only a limited number of uses and its not even that crazy. I like the grapple because it allows for quick transport across the map and when killed somebody else can use the grapple.

I recommend you try it out for yourself first before asking for a nerf

In MP I’m fine with the fast cooldown due to the 3 use limite. Either you do 3 1 chain of grapples, or 3 separate uses, and they you’re done.

In campaign however I don’t know, since it’s a core mechanic there I feel it’s just gonna feel like grapplehook-game. I don’t really like the idea of permanent grapple through a whole Halo game.
The cooldown needs to be way longer there.

I’m hoping for some awesome obstacle courses.

Oh… I miss the obstacle courses of old. Haha the good old halo 3 and reach days.

Halo 4 and 5 really butchered the custom game community.

As much as I used it I never noticed it only had 3 uses. So that’s on me. I still would like to see a cool down but this changes every thing so it’s not as big of a deal now.

Like you I don’t know about campaign.

yeah by default a bit of a cool down on 4v4 games would make sense i like their approach of modifying these things based on the game mode, btb should have the current time

The jump maps/total wipeout style levels are about to level up.

In terms of the grappling hook, I’ve not seen many people use it for movement in battle and not get shredded. Realistically it’s good for moving outside of gunfights to move round the map quickly when not in combat. It’s also good for picking up weapons from a safe place and jacking vehicles. It’s great but actually using it offensively is actually easily punished.

I agree that for the time being, it is best utilized as a defensive tool. I’ve found using it to quickly get away when losing a gunfight to be very helpful. I’ve got a clip where I was in a 1v1 gunfight, and a 2nd enemy jumped in to help his teammate. I quickly turned around and used a few grapples to create distance, with both players in hot pursuit. I got enough distance between us to recharge my shields and time a few grenade throws to wipe out their shields then cleaned up with the sidekick. It was really satisfying to be able to turn the tide of the gunfight like that.

The only real offensive use I’ve found for it so far has been in combination with the SPNKR to get the height advantage needed to effectively shoot rockets at enemies’ feet. I’ve used it to close the gap and get the beat-down a few times, which is satisfying, but I’d say at least 50% of the time they shred me with the AR while I’m closing distance and then melee for the kill once I’m close enough.

Absolutely not it adds bot only style to the game but a new way to approach a fight engaging or repositioning its amazing the way it is changing the fight and making you have to adapt to the situation I personally like that so in my opinion keep it as is.

Fair enough. That’s what ll this is about. We are on opposite sides of the opinion but who knows what the masses like.
