the graphics

from what we’ve seen, the graphics look fantastic, but are we forgetting what reach did to our xbox? slowed it down and created lag, even in single player. the graphics look great but i hope it doesn’t cause the game to be lacking in other functions.

what do you guys think about the graphics?

I love them. My friend couldn’t tell the difference between the graphics and an action figure. I don’t think it will slow down the Xbox. They’re testing on the Xbox, and I don’t think they’d let lag slip by them.

What? I never lagged in Reach…

I think it looks great so far.

> What? I never lagged in Reach…

Neither did I.

same, reach feels smoother than halo 3, actually.

Reach has never lagged for me.

i guess i am the only one to have (minor) lag issues in Reach? even dropped fps? i’m using the newest xbox

I never lagged in reach, I only had motion blur in campaign like everyone else. and besides, I always install to HDD. Less lag.

No I had framerate issues in Reach, mostly during checkpoints, but once the next section of the level loaded it was smooth.

Never had issues online though, smooth for the most part (as smooth as 30 frames per second could be anyway)

I’ve played Reach on 3 separate xbox’s Including a brand new slim and I’ve had framerate drops on all of them especially but not limited to forged maps.

I even have the game installed and it still happens at least once every 10 or so games.

Everyone I know has had this problem.

I never lagged but to prevent this problem you should install the game to your hardrive to improve performance

Framerate issues were most noticeable in Winter Contingency when you would drive, as it loaded there was a lot of slowdown.

Halo 4’s graphics look really good, native 720p already and better aliasing (supposedly in the final game) helps a lot.

Me either… worked just fine

Yeah, not only that, Reach looked better than Halo 3.

Sure, the graphics for Reach were a big step up, but the art style (in my opinion) was just terrible.

Graphic -wise, yeah.

But Halo 3’s art design was superior.

Yeah, it wasn’t that good, and it felt held back.

Indeed. I now have no worries about the art style for Halo 4 after seeing the First Look video. Can’t wait to see all the environments!

To cope with all the AI and stuff, the game deletes bodies and dropped weapons. This is more of an immersion breaker imo.

In CE, this only happened when you weren’t looking.

In H2, based on my Councilors collection, this happened with time or distance.

In H3, this happened regardless of where you were looking.

In Reach, based on my LNoS playthroughs, this happens all the time.

Of course, that does not mean lag should be ignored either. On Sierra 117, the first Phantom that gets shot down by the Pelican will often “merge” with the dam, causing a lot of lag. I’m not sure if this is the case without Cowbell but it’s annoying nonetheless. On LNoS, I noticed occasional lag but only if I was playing for a really long time. This could also be because I was playing the Reach demo from a burned disc.
