The graphics in the demo are where they should be. At this stage in development. Halo 4 & 5 took roughly about 5 years to develop. And infinite is multiple times bigger then halo 4 &5 combined and 343 has also had further develop halo 5 and add new games to halo mcc, also they had build a brand new game engine. People are just disappointed because they set their expectations too high.
No, they don’t. Stop making excuses for these giant corporations. It was an embarrassing showcase. Games usually get downgraded from their reveal to release. I don’t recall TLOU2 looking like monke in the 2018 gameplay reveal.

That is false.
Not much is known about Halo 4’s development in detail, but according to Wikipedia, it started in 2009. Even if we assume that it started in January, that’s a 3 3/4 years at the most, since the game released in September 2012.
H5G’s development was three years. (Three year journey.) Development allegedly only started after Halo 4’s launch, as the team wanted to listen to community feedback. (Yeah, right.)
Development on Infinite, however, started prior to H5G’s release, some time before September 2015. That’s 5+ years up to the (planned) release.

They had to build a brand new engine. yes
People had high expectations. Some of us yes.
That is the only thing I believe is true in your statement.
People were largely dissapointed becuase of actual issues. The game lacks polish. That worries gamers because a trailer is supposed to advertise a product, meaning:
You are supposed to show off the best you got.
And if that is the best, that is dissapointing.
Time, halo infinite had the most time out of all the halos.
Size, we arent sure the scale of halo infinite, we only have remarks by 343… and previous remarks about halos being bigger didnt seem to be true.
Allow people to be critical. Alot of the times, people who are critical are critical because they love halo. They want to see halo be better.

Sorry but I don’t understand this the game is running at 60 4k and the gun play is smooth af and people are worried about an inconsequential grass pop in is the same sort of annoying stuff people were complaining about with the halo 1 mcc plasma pistol sound glitch. Infinite is graphically a base xbox one upscaled, I am fine with that. This game has charm Halo 5 lacked, the writing, characters, music, story and lore seem very promising but this superficial argument of graphics dictating the quality of a game is horrendously shallow and petulant. Shallow understanding of what makes Halo great, in my opinion.

No, they are not where they should be. They look worse than some games that were released before Halo Infinite was in development imo. I’m no hater, but the demo was underwhelming when it comes to the graphics, imo.

Absolutely false, Microsoft and 343 set people’s expectations with the previously released trailers.

You are very right, there are alot of other factors that make the game great, and to me, what outshines most of it imo is the gameplay itself. Feels familiar, and it looks like they managed to recapture that halo magic… with respect to gameplay, imo. Characters could use some help imo… but masterchief was perfect… imo. i largely came out of the trailer more satisfied than i think most seem to make it be. I think there is alot of potential. But , seriously thou, there are somethings about perhaps the lines of the characters that imo left me feeling like the audicence of this game is rather young. Stating the obvious seems to be some of the characters favorite passing time. DId halo do this previously? well kinda yes, but I thought we could perhaps get something just a little better.
The things were pointed out in this thread are minor, however, the culmination of these minor points leaves something to be desired. Im sure you can understand that. For me… first impressions were positive, until i saw the phantom flying overhead… and that is when the belief i invested in the experience was challenged. Then the new shield effect threw me in for a twist, followed by the new unsc weapon that looks like it came out of the universe of destiny and finally the speech by eschurum which i think could have been a bit more impactful should have he saved some of the words to be implied. THEN that made me question the dialogue of the first part… and thats when i figured they share a similar problem.
When I then took to the forums to find out what people thought about it, my attention was drawn to the popping and the rather strange lack of detail on weapons… and now i cant unsee it.
The gameplay is still amazing imo… but i do wish the points ive touched upon somewhat improve.
Edit: heck , the floor thou was imo beautiful… with the grass and flowers, and mud and puddles and the reflection in the puddles… really liked the quality of those

No doubt the characters were not perfect, like the brute and the pilot, were a tad over-acted in my opinion but they were most certainly intriguing and I want to know more about them. Thats the type of stuff that makes like and want to play these Halo games.
There were some concerns, eg the pop in of the grass and clouds… but hopefully they are an optimisation issue (which is usually the last part of game’s development).
The problem is that Microsoft put Infinite up on the pedestal of the Series X - which they had been touting as a graphics powerhouse. This has never been Halo’s strong point. And with no context we were left a bit shell shocked and bewildered.
343 need to change the narrative. We need something like the old vidocs - so they can explain their design decisions. Show us the epic scale of the world, and the battles to expect, and then we can be impressed how good it is all running at 4K and 60fps. Show us the enemy AI. Show us the multiplayer. Dazzle us with the maps, weapons, and options. Show us that all our old favourites are coming back… and show us something new to excited us. Show us Forge and give us a glimpse of the worlds the (awesome) community can create.
Change the story from graphics showpiece to gameplay showpiece.

Yes we could def use some Vidocs about there decisions and process of how they went about the game. Maybe that’ll come in a few weeks, or not at all. With Covid striking near their final stages and the fact they’ve reworked Infinite’s campaign entirely based on H5 feedback, maybe they can’t accurately put out a solid Vidoc
I mean from the outlook it would seem they’ve had development hell from the attention 343 are starting to garner with the games media.
I’m not fussed with what was seen at the demo as I’m sure given the 3-4 months to release they could sort some/most of the issues highlighted.

Idk that gossip shouldnt have much value. To me I think THEY need a mp beta though as those issues need community feedback for real. Only thing that is worrying me so close to launch is lack of mp beta.

This always amazes me, when people just eat up whatever these corporations are shoveling.
Years of hype, 2 fake trailers from 343, years or “power, power, power” marketing, promises of “mic drop” moments, “X gonna give it to ya!” or my favorite “wait till next show!” and these fanboys have to brass to tell people their expectations were too high.
I guess me thinking next-gen Halo should at least look better than Halo 3, on “the worlds most powerful console” was setting my expectations too high. These are the same people that are shocked when polls show 85% of respondents want a PS5.
