The Good.
Things that make me warm and fuzzy.
MOVEMENT. Previous Halos made me feel clunky and limited in terms of maneuvers, and that should be a non issue in terms of a Supersoldier. We can run faster, jump higher, and, most importantly, run faster than running faster. And with Halo’s trademark freedom of physics and movement, mixed with this new visceral feeling of weight and power, I’m pleased.
SANDBOX AND CUSTOMIZATION. I always hear my friends on other shooters debating custom classes. Now I can finally experience that depth of gameplay. And if someone has a better starting weapon than my unsuitable primary, weapon pickups nullify their advantage pretty decently. Even with AR starts in Halo 3, you could pinch a battle rifle or a carbine from a spawn or a dead body no problem. I’m a thief, and I keep what I steal.
STORY!! I’m so excited. SPARTAN OPS? RETURN OF THE CHIEF?! INFINITY? BOLD NEW WORLD?! AAAAAAAAAAAAAH
The Hopeful.
Things that are in my heart.
The EVA helmet. UA and Milint attachments please. I’ve rocked a fishbowl since early Halo 3. When I first saw it after finishing the fight in campaign, I said “HELMET, I want you on my head.” The new look and attachments in Reach only pulled me deeper in love. I can even forgive the stupid skull carving. Baby, come back. :]
Needler. I can’t imagine a Halo without a spoonful of Blamite. That pink mist repeater is the queen of Covie Automatics.
Hot Cortana. She looks amazing so far. Has she been working out? :3 STAY THE COURSE. She looks out of this WORLD.
Battles with gusto. I liked the Halo 2 campaign the most. There were parts where covies stopped you COLD, and you had to fall back, regroup, sift through corpses for a weapon with decent ammo, and come up with a battle plan. Gimme THAT kinda fear and trepidation and intensity. Make me WORK to clear a room on NORMAL. >:)
Forge. I shouldn’t even say HOPEFUL. A better forge system is pretty much guaranteed. We’re on a massive VIRTUAL REALITY SIMULATOR. That says a lot about forge in and of itself.
WHO CARES?
Some things that I ran out of give-a-**** for.
1-50. If you need constant validation that you’re good, then get a career. I want a background running system that matches people of similar skill and brings even, fair matches. Not that I actively don’t WANT a 1-50, I just don’t see what cattle branding has to do with gaming.
BOPS2. Why do we as a community care how brown military shooters are doing? I literally found out about the new CoD release through this forum, which says that this community is running a better ad campaign than Infinity Ward. If you don’t care for it, SHUT UP ABOUT IT, and it will lose its power over Halo fans who otherwise wouldn’t give a **** about the latest of CoD’s releases.
In conclusion: 343, my body is ready.
