Hey everyone! Since the release of Halo 5 there have been plenty of controversial opinions to which 343 has taken the Halo series. In this Topic ill review my thoughts about the entirety of Halo 5. Starting at the campaign there have been a lot of complaints about the false advertising in the commercials 343 studiod release prior to the launch of the game. They depicted the plot of halo 5 to be this big chase of former hero master chief to the new protagonist or antsgonist, depending how you look at the situation; spartan locke. When progressing through the campaign you realize the story is not about chasing chief around the galaxy, its about figuring out what cortana is doing. The screen time wasnt even split evenly between blue team and fire team osirus. Towards the halfway point of the story chief and locke have a very dissatisfying confrontation which broke out into a 1v1 fist fight. The fight itself wouldve been extremely cool if 343 had built up a better character progression. Blue team is supposed to be the deadliest most elite team the UNSC has. 343 portrayed them as just chiefs sidekicks. And when the two teams met on the battlefield there wasnt a long built up rivalry between the two teams as there should have been. When chief and locke faught it seemed as if thats the first signifigant event in the campaign. The end of Halo 5 guardians was very anticlimactic and it seemed more of a bridge to sell the innevitable halo 6. There were many faults in the campaign but the gameplay throughout was innovative and fun. The cutscenes were crisp and the overall difficulty was rather refreshing from a shooters standards. This doesnt take away from the fantastic multiplayer experience halo 5 guardians has to offer. The multiplayer is split up into two playlists. Arena and warzone. Within these playlists are sub catagories in which you can play. Arena is a 4 on 4 brawl between two teams as oppossed to the 12v12 warzone variants. Arena has a brand new ranking system where each player plays ten placement matches against other teams of 4 and is later placed in one of seven devisions depending on the amount of games the player wins. Players can be different ranks in each playlist. For example, in swat you can be in diamond and in breakout you could be bronze. Its not a one size fits all type of matchmaking. The ranking up system makes it so only wins progress your rank no matter the amount of kills you achieve in a particular game. I surprisingly like this considering objective games you have to die a lot to capture flags or take over strongholds so your KDA shouldnt factor into your progression system. The new thruster ability is perfectly balanced and is unable to be abused majorly. However it can be the difference in a gun fight situation. The maps Halo 5 has to offer look annoyingly simmilar and play almost the same way. 343 fixed the repetetive problem halo 5 was having by adding a wider variety of maps to each playlist on arena. Grenades seek to be abundant in multiplayer and can get quite annoying. The blast radius for frag grenades is too high and overpowered. Im having a problem communicating in lobbys with partied up players when on the playlist menu. Muting players in warzone isnt functioning correctly. The pack system is almost useless for people who play arena and it makes it seem as though theres almost no incentive to playing the game. However despite these problems the gameplay is still fresh even after the many hours i have been playing. 343 is dedicated to making this game amazing and they are making improvements to do just that!
