So, after a fun night at my first ever midnight launch, I’m pretty satisfied with Halo 5. I really do like it. The story is compelling, the gameplay itself is unique in my opinion, and the multiplayer is fun! Most of what I say about this game is good, but there are a few jarring details I feel the need to touch over about it.
- CAMPAIGN SPOILER, DON’T OPEN UNLESS YOU’VE PLAYED
I’ve played 10/15 missions of the campaign, and most of the missions are Fireteam Osiris. At this point in the story, there’s only 2 Blue Team missions, which I find truly upsetting. Following the story of the Master Chief is what I have been looking forward to ever since the game was confirmed. I get that 343 wants to intrigue us with a new main character and his team, including the legendary Buck (yaaaas :D), but I really wanted to see more of Blue Team.2) Limited options at launch, ie. customs and no forge. I understand we will get forge in the future. Excited for that. However, I would’ve liked to see more options with custom games and maybe a few more matchmaking playlists, like race or infection. This complaint is fairly minor since I’m sure all of this will come eventually in future content updates.

Still no campaign theater. This is something I miss from the Halo Reach days. I don’t necessarily count the MCC because the games that did include it were already given in the past, nothing new. I really miss being able to view some highlights of campaign moments in theater.

Co-op. I still can’t get over the fact that there’s no campaign LAN co-op, even though I’ve known this for a while. And I haven’t tried doing splitscreen customs yet. Can’t remember if they put that in or not. If that question can be answered before I hop back on, that would be nice.
Other than all that, I really enjoy this game so far. The leveling and REQ system will take some getting used to, but overall, a great game. Plus, LOVE the return of the legendary monk chants in the main menu. That’s when you know Halo is back! My rating is set at 7.5-8/10. Excellent job!
