I’m really enjoying playing Halo infinite but a lot of things that seem obvious to me are not there. To tell you the truth I don’t really know why because these are very basic things in FPS.
The game is extremely frustrating for a player new to Halo and the game can only see its population decrease over time if features are not added. Many people around me have pointed out obvious things that are missing without really knowing why.
First of all the lack of multiplayer rank. I’m not talking about the rank, but a classic rank that a lot of people have. Like Halo Reach which proposed a system of rank which allowed to know instantly the level of the players in front of. It’s a good idea to have a system of xp based on performance in multiplayer games (nova, supenova, general, etc…).
Secondly, the progression is only done through the battle pass, in other words, whether I do 20-0 or 2-20 my XP doesn’t change, which is extremely frustrating. Why should I invest in a game that doesn’t reward my efforts in the game? It’s crazy to think that the game doesn’t give you any xp for just playing. My multiplayer experience is and can only be done through imposed challenges that are not skill based.
Thirdly, the lack of multiplayer performance tracking. Here impossible to know my ratio, number of kill etc… quickly. No reward for the series of victims that fall into oblivion as soon as the game is over. No quote tracking like in Halo reach which allowed a long time tracking of multiplayer performances and rewarded its faithful players.
Fourth, the lack of social functionality in the game. There is no multiplayer lobby for players to replay together at the end of a game or to chat. It should be possible to access player statistics in 2 clicks.
Fifthly, there is no way to disable crossplay or to select only mouse/handheld players. I’ve been up against a few cheaters on PC and so I only want to play against XBOX players because I’m an xbox player, so I don’t want to ruin my game experience. And everyone should choose the plateform.
I’m happy to see 343 make constant update about the games but thats update seems very minor compare to all the work that left for having a complete multiplayer experience in Halo Infinite. Removing behemoth from ranked was cool (i guess) but they have so much more to do.
I’m very confident for the next update, i hope big things coming.
