yeah it snot like we have had $60 single player games before. it’s not like fallout, far cry, Tomb Raider, or many other are things.
Aight, so this is a topic about moment to moment gameplay as it stands right now, yeah?
Challenges tell you to use them anyway
There is only 4v4 & 12v12. No 6v6, 8v8, FFA, doubles, multi team
There are so few playlist, without even a slayer playlist. Let alone team objective, swat, snipers, infection, grifball etc.
Campaign is coming but there’s no firefight, Warzone or any other PvE modes stated to be coming.
No forge for 9+ months
No campaign coop for 6+ months
No service record
No rank progression
Next to no customisation without mtx, and a severely limited form even after mtx
None of this is actually about gameplay, so meh.
Certain weapons (commando, ravager, plasma pistol, disruptor etc.) Just aren’t fun to use.
This is fine feedback. The commando is slowly growing on me, and I think the plasma pistol is fine. Disruptor and Ravager don’t feel like they fit in very well at the moment.
The weapon sandbox in general is the smallest we’ve seen in years
I think some of this can be resolved by giving the ravager/disruptor more presence but… who cares? Having a million different weapons won’t necessarily make the sandbox better. We already have a few guns that feel like they’re struggling to find their identity. Why would more guns fix this?
Weapon spawns are randomised, especially in btb, so no more “controlling power weapons” like the gametypes suggest we do
Uhh, what? You know that even though power weapons shift from match to match, those spots still have power weapons, right? If either rockets or cindershot spawn, I don’t care. I don’t want the other team to have it.
Vehicle spawns are also random, and asymmetric, aside from warthogs & mongoose.
Okay? Maybe I need to play more btb but I don’t know how this makes the gameplay bad.
There are very few maps to choose from
And? More maps would be cool, but how does this make the gameplay “not good”?
Custom games are severely limited & often aren’t working as intended right now
Yup I want better custom games too. This isn’t about moment to moment gameplay though.
Challenges that force you to play a certain way and are made worse by the playlist limitations above
Yup the challenge system does impact gameplay and should change.
So please continue to tell me how this halo has such great gameplay?
Most of what you mentioned has nothing to do with moment to moment gameplay.
Those games used to be nothing compared to a halo release, but those times are long gone.
Commando is a weapon reliant on RNG, not good
Disruptor feels bland and doens’t do much
PP does less shield damage than the side kick ( bodyshots)
Very few of Infinite’s weapons are well tuned, everything in this game kills good and nothing more. No shield remover to combo with, no weapon specializing in killing HP specifically, no stunning or physics based weapons either.
and It’s not a good thing when it replaced a better version of BTB, Infinite’s BTB dropped the ball meaning H4 was the last game with a decent BTB in it.
It’s not a beta if the developer calls it “content complete” they are just using PR speak to trick fools into defending it.
Beta in their case allows them to make immediate changes/tweaks without approval. People thinking that we’re getting more content on the 8th are just wrong.
Mao control is not a key element in this game.
I’m gonna just go ahead and say nooo that’s not the point I was getting at atall and can people please stop trying to invalidate what I’m saying by saying that’s what it’s about. It’s just as much about the overall feeling I have at the end of a session as it is “moment to moment”, because no matter how good 30 seconds of action is, if I’ve done that same 30 seconds 20 times it stops being the thing that hooks me. And if I don’t have a different gametype or playlist to turn to when that happens - well I guess this game doesn’t have gameplay that’ll hook me. It’s just as much about the breadth of gameplay as it is about how one specific aspect of it feels.
So, there are weapon pads & certain power weapon placements which are static although they can vary whats in them match to match, but that’s not really what I’m getting at. I’m more talking about the random ordinance pods which aren’t telegraphed ahead of time and can have snipers / hydras / hammers / swords / rockets in them. Those spawn all over the map including player bases and are random enough at least that I haven’t learnt their patterns just yet.
Same with vehicle drops, particularly on maps like deadlock. I don’t know how they choose when to drop vehicles, I would love to know if anyone has insight! But the net outcome is more often than not near the end of a game you’ll have a wraith or a scorpion dropped off at one teams base and not the other, sometimes while they’re already miles ahead, and the only telegraph that it’s gonna happen is an audio cue about 30 seconds before which doesn’t specify where it’s gonna drop. Doesn’t really give teams a chance to push that point if they’re not there already, nor is it particularly easy to predict. So it just ends up feeling like you got either blessed or cursed by RNG when it happens which isn’t the feeling I want in my arena shooter?
Can’t blame you for not noticing these two aspects of btb though cause they’re so poorly explained in the first place.
This is fair. When I’ve played BTB I can honestly say the weapon ordinance is very poorly telegraphed and communicated. I’ve lost track of the number of times I’ve heard “ordinance drop,” then some SFX somewhere nearby, and then I can’t actually find the weapon in question… or it turns out to be an energy sword that is useless for the current situation.
I don’t have the same experience with vehicle drops, but it’s more than annoying to have the AI tell me vehicles are incoming and, once again, turns out to be completely irrelevant to the current situation in the match. I’ve also had frustrating experiences in which they drop a scorpion tank right in the middle of the enemy team base and it completely turns the tide of the match because the only ordinance that spawns afterwards are energy swords/snipers.
Then you’re misusing and misunderstanding the Commando my dude lol.
It’s a gun that takes pacing and timing. If you let it rip full auto then you’re using it entirely wrong and I can see why you’d think it’s RNG, but it’s not. Tap fire it, treat it like a DMR and you’ll see your results improve.
Other than shuts down vehicles, causes area of effect damage, DOT, and prevents shield regen?
It’s pretty worthwhile in my book.
I’ll have to verify this
Well that would be opinion, I personally think BTB in Halo Infinite is pretty slick.
I would like to see a less cinematic version though.
It’s a Beta when the devs call it a Beta, which the devs do call it a Beta and treat it like a Beta, hence when you have an issue and you report it through proper channels, the response talks about how it’s in Beta.
Ergo, it’s a Beta. Words still have meaning in 2021 whether you want to acknowledge that or not big guy.
Tbf I’m ok with them calling it a Beta if and only if they continue to call it a Beta up to the point we have forge, customs, multiple playlists & all of the core gametypes we’d expect. If on Dec 8th they magically flip the “not a Beta” button and decide it’s full release now without any major changes, yeah that Beta sticker don’t mean nothing.
imho they should just call it what it is and say the whole multiplayer is launching in early access until 1.0 in season 3.
Standard isn’t good enough when apparently it’s been in development for so many years.
No, calling a dog a chicken doesn’t make that dog a chicken now does it? This isn’t a beta, it’s 1.0. They already stated that what’s here now is what the “official launch” will be.
Theyve had a lot of crybabies impeding progress. I wouldnt be surprised if they waisted 100 conference call hours on to sprint or not to sprint

Well when launch day rolls around with some form of significant change to the multiplayer, we’ll see who’s right.

The mental gymnastics at play to avoid acknowledging the “Beta” title is impressive.
I think infinite has the best gameplay since halo 3
Idk man when I’m sneaking around punching dude after dude and getting away with it before going down in a blaze of glorious grenade frenzy, it feels pretty Halo to me.
You have fair points, and I do think they need another balance adjustment to fix most of those things. But honestly? The thrills are the same as I remember from Reach and Halo 3. (I can’t stand Halo 4 and 5, sorry.)
Too bad about that AWFUL, GARBAGE playlist system, and lack of pregame/postgame lobbies.
You forgot “the radar is approximately the size of a nickel”
That said, I’d argue that most, if not all, of these are changeable aspects of the game; perhaps the only exception is the asymmetric weapon/vehicle spawning in BTB. So, the gameplay being really good is a fiar statement because the core aspects of the gameplay (the things that can’t really be changed without scrapping redesigning the entire game) are very good. The lack and balancing of weapons, maps, playlists, CG, team sizes… all of that can be expanded and improved over time. Service Record can also be expanded on, and we know that rank progression is already in the works. Challenges are also being overhauled to better the system. So, while I agree with your points, I think the statement that the gameplay is very good still has some merit to it. Also, I may be wrong but I believe co-op campaign and forge are both set for March 2022, which is only 3-4 months from release, not 6-9.
But I still won’t be happy until they fix the freakin’ radar. I can’t see anything in this game lol
That is not how you’re supposed to use the commando. It’s fully intended for automatic fire, as evident by the flights. It’s only so bad now because they overly nerfed it, forcing rng auto or extremely slow tap fire
You’re a stubborn fellow aren’t you?
Well you can either use it correctly and see actual results (tap fire at range) or you can continue to use incorrectly and fail (autogun go bambambambambambambam).
Don’t tell me I’m using it wrong when I see actual functional results while you’re relying on “rNg” and can’t seem to make it work.
Glad OP mentioned many things people haven’t been saying. We can add extremely bland map design to that list as well. Not a single one has an interesting layout, atmosphere, or any sense of personality. Some of which are literally just 3 lane bs.
