The gameplay isn't as good as y'all say it is

a lot of people say it’s ‘modern halo 3’ and honetly? i don’t see it… i see the whole thing as a combination between call of duty, halo 5, reach, and sure 3 but very little. the gameplay, after like 50 hours i’ve already grown tired of. and i would probably keep returning to it like other games, if there was an insentive to return. something more than the honestly trash rewards of the weekly challenges
‘oh but it’s beta’ BS. do you, anyone who says this, honestly think ANYTHING worthwhile will change in a weeks time? nah man. also events going on in a beta, and things i can PAY FOR in a beta?! nah man, this isn’t a beta, the multiplayer just released early
also the shear lack of content that EVERY OTHER HALO GAME HAS HAD, in less time is just insulting… like they couldn’t even have swat, sodding SWAT in the game? what a joke 343. not even infection? free for all playlist? anything? no, just 5 modes, fiesta not included since that’s an ‘event gamemode’… piss off. fiesta, like swat, is fun and you’re activilly limiting the players enjoyment of the game. oh yeah, like EVERYTHING ELSE IN THIS GAME. this game doesn’t care if you have fun or not, just a matter of if you’re going to tolerate the utter trash, jerk 343 off, and pay like the good cash whale you are to the big company, milking a dead cow named Halo

So which one of these means the game plays bad?

I don’t understand. What does that have to do with anything? Also it’s not a beta.

Hardcore agree on the weapons, so not much to add there, but since you mentioned the sensitivity and aim assist I have to mention that something is just straight up off (aside from the traditional camera slow when your reticule highlights an enemy, that is still mostly broken.) I can’t properly describe what it is, but I spent quite a solid amount of time fine tuning the look sensitivity settings and something still just feels horribly off. I can boot up 5 and just set the general sensitivity to close to where I want it and it already feels better. Not sure what they screwed on their end to give a worse feel with more control, but it just feels uncomfortable.

The ravager and plasma pistol definitely do not feel fantastic. Ravager has both too little range and too much kickback for its shots. Sure it’s powerful, especially when charged, but it’s not where it should be at. The plasma pistol… Has been kind of bad since 2, but it had its uses, however it’s worse than ever now.

It is true that this is a thing with every 343i release and it’s really wierd they release the game without it being ready to release. It is really weird that I played for 4 days and all those days I haven’t got a single Slayer match. I can understand the lack of forge, but co-op gameplay is so essential to the Halo experience that it baffles me they need another 6 months for that.

Althought the gameplay is fine, 343i is always releasing essential Halo things too late to the game and then the population moved on to an other game.

Plasma pistol is fine. It tracks better than all of the other ones besides Halo 2.

That is just straight up a lie, it tracks worse than most and easily misses most of the time by flying past them. It has worse tracking issues than the pulse carbine, and doesn’t have hp damage to balance that and its lack of emp out.

There is a great game underneath all the issues… But there are a lot of them

No it’s not a lie. Go play the other games.,

Dude I have played an unbelievable amount of every one of them, it sucks in comparison. Its tracking isn’t as strong in how hard it directs itself to the target, nor is it as fast as to warrant worse tracking. It isn’t even a good weapon by itself like it was in CE

I’m a bit torn on this topic. On one hand Infinite certainly feels like classic Halo…which is weird because I don’t think it actually plays like a Halo game.

Personally, I see a perfectly fine core game with great potential that I can have a ton of fun with but that also frustrates me to the point where I’m not just not really feeling that urge to play it (already!). Part of that is because of things that affect gameplay (the challenges meaning a free for all instead of focus on objectives and the progression/monetization being the worst and most predatory system I’ve ever seen outside of those lame mobile games).

So here is some gameplay stuff I sincerely dislike:

  • Weapons feel weird.
Half of them have these real gimmicky traits that feel unnecessary. Shotgun is bad. Commando too. Pulse Carbine…lets not start. That new red Carbine/Beam Rifle mash up? You know…why not just have both of those? Commando too is like an unholy alliance of the DMR and SAW but without being as good as those. Sword? No counterpart. Its just unbalanced.
  • Aiming is off.
Close range: okay once you get the hang of it. At a distance? Nope.
  • Vehicles behave like CE vehicles and all suck except for the Wasp/Scorpion.
  • Melee…obiously
  • Way too competitive gameplay.
There just isnt enough room to relax and enjoy nice games. Everything is sweaty and hardcore. I just don’t like that. Reminds me a bit of what I didn’t like about H3, but I guess people who adore H3 like this vibe.
  • Lastly: I think its far too difficult to tell the effect of damage in this game.
Sometimes a grenade is like a mini nuke. Sometimes it will barely damage an unshielded player. Sometimes an unshielded players drops dead with a few AR rounds…other times they seem to have a second invisible shield that soaks up damage. Getting hit? Good luck trying to figure out how to counter because you’re dead before you know. Other players in your area? You won’t know because of crappy radar and not hearing footsteps.

And there’s more. Performance on Xbox One is spotty. Remember that laughably bad ladder climbing animation of the new Battlefield? Infinite can have the same crappy animations in BTB. And I can go on.

I’m already done with this game. Fiesta was fun and sort of made me forget my sentiments were already present after 2 weeks. Now that it’s gone? I’m gone too. MCC here I come!

Agree with all the points for me the only reliable weapon and that feels incredible als in the old times is the BR, also I’m really annoyed for the range issues with the weapons that feel weird in almost every single weapon and I don’t understand why people say the weapons are incredible (I respect their opinions but not agree at all)

A beta is generally something that is meant for testing purposes only…I’d hardly call this a beta or we might as well call the whole 10 year live service model a beta. A beta is meant to have downtime so the dev’s can work on the game while turning servers off after the beta ends so they can return months later also it’s bizarre to charge anything in-game when it’s supposed to a beta and there’s literally no gap whatsoever between beta end and launch start. Technically this isn’t a beta but more early access.

most of these are issues with the framework of the game, and not the game itself. The rest aren’t great points.

BTB still has reliable power weapon spawns, but with 12 players it would be far too easy to camp the power weapons indefinitely with 6 people on each. Ordinance is a fine way to casualize BTB, and it’s led to some really fun moments for me. As for Arena, power weapons don’t spawn randomly, they are in the same place every time with the same timer. Exactly what power weapon you get is random but like… so what? Does it ruin your experience that your team is controlling the sword spawn instead of the hammer spawn?

The sandbox is small, but so what? I’d rather have 6 unique guns than 20 nearly identical guns covering the entire spectrum from SMG to LMG. I’m happy with the weapon sandbox, with the exception of 3 weapons. (I will fight you on the disruptor, that thing is boss)

Vehicle spawns are not asymetric. If a single vehicle spawns, it will do so near the middle of the map, otherwise a pair of vehicles will spawn at the same time, near each spawn. Hence why there always seems to be two tanks.

This post is both ill-informed and based on a faulty premise. Almost all of these points aren’t about gameplay at all, they’re just issues with the playlist and challenge systems. As for your actual gameplay complaints, they are also mostly based on faulty premises. More weapons =/ good, random power weapons =/ no spawn control, and no, sir, MENU NAVIGATION IS NOT GAMEPLAY.

I’ll give you the commando, but the ravager, plasma pistol, and the disruptor are great weapons. Just got to learn how to use them. All 3 give me the edge pretty frequently.

Half of this list isn’t even about gameplay lol. Get your argument in order before coming in ranting. A lot of this stuff is just game features or systems. Everything is still in beta for this year. I’m sure we’ll get everything by next year in like two months away.

I do miss forge heavy rn though for customs

I disagree with most of what you posted, but one thing in the gameplay that I am disappointed in is the vehicles. I feel like they nerfed them significantly. The chopper is a joke. The banshee is useless. The warthog and the mongoose flip waaaay to easy. Vehicles used to be scary, and it took a team effort or a skilled individual to take them down. Now it just seems like any ol n00b can take down a vehicle.

No PvE besides solo campaign, thats a killer for me sometimes, I’ll admit too many multiplayer matches start making me salty, with no firefight, I just go to a different game.

Nailed it. The game has a lacking but solid base and still needs a ton of work.
