The gameplay isn't as good as y'all say it is

The commando takes practice, pacing to feel good.

Ravager is garbo

Disruptor has its uses

Plasma Pistol needs its emp back

That’s what swaps are for, or you can just choose not to do them

That’s ok, it’s well tuned and works pretty good.

It’s clear there are more weapons hidden in the game, it’s a 10 year title I’d imagine there’s going to more stuff to drop. Patience, it’s been 3 weeks of beta.

Randomized or not (Quickplay only that is) power weapons still exist to be controlled and used effectively to one’s advantage. This is the case on nearly all maps.

Again random isn’t necessarily a bad thing

This can be rectified on a personal level, and shouldn’t be considered a problem. Fine tuning is expected.

I would chalk this up to Beta status, I’m only speculating but I’d bet a weeks earnings that we see some of this change within the first few weeks of the game launching.

Nor was anything like this ever talked about. Forge is the next biggest inclusion if I’m not wrong.

This does need some work. The bones are there, but it needs some more features and options.

This is a bit unfortunate I gotta admit

Very confusing honestly

Well there is, it’s just super cloudy in its functionality

Needs work, but it isn’t a make or break feature.

Only if you only focus on the challenges in that way. So many players feel “forced” to get these challenges done a certain way, they don’t take a step back and approach it in a more passive manner. You’re not forced to do anything, those are your own inhibitions at play.

It’s not difficult to get them down in an offhand manner.

This basically sums up all the issues with the game so far. They say it’s a beta, so release day next week better have some major content updates. Honestly if they multiplayer continues to look like this I probably am going to stick to campaign and mcc until I see some major improvements. It’s fun for a while, but it’s having a hard time retaining that fun factor when it’s so limited in sandbox, mode accessibility and focused on hcs.

last part I kinda do that even in mcc I did that cause that’d made me play well not how I play I get stupid deaths and I just get mad but when I look back I dont have to focus on them I can just let them exist and just play and naturally they just get done I think its somthing alot fo players should realize it’d make their experience a lot batter

You forgot to mention the controller aiming controls and settings. None of it feels good. Always having to fight the game for control of where I want my crosshair and when I want it there. The totally legitimate play style of being a mobility player is restricted for one set of players and not the other.

The sandbox would play better with better maps. most 4v4 maps don’t have actual playable areas that aren’t labyrinths. Don’t get me started on 2 flag gametypes on the 2 asymmetrical BTB maps

The game play I have always loved with Halo is still in this game. For me it’s about the four shot kill, the movement that your Spartan negotiates the map. The way you jump/strafe/duck and now clamber.

The power weapon still exists and so does the power up camo/over shield. Which most of us will fight over at the beginning middle and end.

I love how you play similar skilled players and the entertainment of the three or four basic game types which I have played thousands and thousands of times since 2001. Slayer/CTF/oddball/KotH, which I’m sure the latter will be coming.

And to top it all off you get a ranking system, which you can go up when you win and down when you lose.

That’s the halo I love and that’s the halo we have got. Some enthusiasts might want to tweak some settings but most people are happy with what we have and will happily play this game until a successor arrives.

My thoughts exactly. Thanks for saving me the trouble.

You know that you just described Destiny there, right? So in a way, 343 is following Bungie steps, just not in the best way.

For me it’s ranked that is so good.

As we start with the BR which is my favourite weapon, I find the gameplay phenomenal. The frantic fights over a flag or skull produce some epic moments. To me, this is what Halo is about, getting into firefights and being able to stay in the fight longer than in most other FPS games.

All hail the shield.

I agree, BTB is not that great.

I am certain that on the 8th December, more modes will be released for multiplayer.

Your assumptions would be false.

This is the unfortunate truth. No new content will be released on beta ending.
If you can spend money in the cash shop, the game is 1.0.

Maybe for you, but mobility players don’t even get simple sensitivity settings they need to be mobile on controller. That’s a pretty freaking huge drawback for a lot of players.

Entirely subjective.
My favourite weapon is the commando.
Favourite secondary is the disruptor.
Map control is 100% still a key element.
The bulk of your issues aren’t explicitly gameplay related.
People who compliment the gameplay do so with regards to it at its core.
The primary loop is highly satisfying.
The reduced sandbox for me is a net positive.

When people are saying they enjoy the gameplay - they are specifically referring to how it plays; you can’t tell people that all of your (rightly highlighted) issues with content etc falls under that umbrella. Otherwise people wouldn’t make the distinction.

I’m warming to the whole sandbox - pacing better with the Commando is making it pretty effective - but your other concerns around number of maps, playlists etc I agree with. But for me the actual act of playing the game is a lot of fun - as someone above has stated, Ranked is pretty intense in a genuinely memorable and exciting way.

There is free for all. Just not in the playlists. I feel like 343 is trying to build the game on ESports rather than fun.

Firstly 90% of your list isn’t gameplay.

2nd all Halo games average 10 maps at launch. Infinite is no different.

3rd not all playlists have been available at launch with every Halo release either.

3rd I found the challenges this new week are better. And the dailies meant I’m going up 2 or 3 levels in just 6 matches.

4th. I agree we need playlists though.

But the actual gameplay part is the best Halo has ever been. I’ve played them all. Felt the controls were iffy to begin with. But changed my look acceleration to 5 and sensitivity to 10 and it feels more like Halo used to be. No issues on controls now I’ve changed them.

I agree with a lot, especially with this^

In terms of gameplay i want to add, that strafing has no inertia wich makes the gunfights sometimes too hectic. 343i should tweak this too. imho

I think some of the things you don’t like about this game should have been in older games, however there are some things in your list on this forum post I agree with.
