Yep, Battle Royale.
There was a posting today that seems to have found an audio file of Jeff Steitzer (MP Announcer) saying “Battle Royale” in the context of introducing a game mode. Source.
I don’t think there’s any merit to it. I think it’s canceled content leftover in the game files. I think 343 initially planned for a BR mode but canceled it pretty early on. It could also be a new medal, new achievement, etc.

I doubt it’s cancelled content, but I won’t be surprised if it’s not there on release.
Battle royal will be a thing.
Its far too much of a money grab for it not to be, and BP’s are far too “good” of a system for it not to be implimented
I can even see there being two seperate BP’s one for MP and one for BR just to milk it a bit more
This will be a F2P game and the Devs/-Yoink!- need to make money off it somehow

I personally don’t care if Infinite has a BR mode or not. I think that Infinite’s more “Open-World” level design in campaign would lend itself nicely to the mode. Drop in inside ODST pods, and have Covenant battlecruisers hovering in the sky, slowly glassing their way in towards the center. I think the universe application is there, it’s just a matter of 343 able to innovate on the traditional BR formula.

Could be for Custom Games they know people will make for it or maybe they are going to try to release one later on. They many years to plan for this and make multiplayer. It could be that they are holding onto more than we think. They have yet to show Forge and after the preview my brain cannot even compute how good that is going to be.

Edit: I should clarify I meant if the game sheds every other mode in favor of becoming a BR focused game meaning arena, BTB, etc is removed in favor of BR. While I hate the mode I also don’t want to see another Fortnight happen where the original game was something completely unrelated to BR, and the devs stripped away everything else from the game in favor of BR. I also don’t want to see Halo jumping genres. Feel free to contest this, but these are just my thoughts and opinions, nothing more.

I think that leaving a franchise because of their choice to attempt on a highly profitable and popular game mode is excessive.
it could also be that its a cameo from him like steve downs and others have been doing

It is, but even saying I have zero interest in BR is an understatement. I didn’t get into Halo to play a BR. I have no desire to explore that genre, nor will I. After Halo 5 my interest is held solely by Forge in regards to multiplayer.
Among the leaked audios related to a possible BR, there is one that says: “Pollution zone expanding” We would literally be talking about a BR with The Flood. Sounds hot.
343 may have recorded those lines with the initial plan of having a bottle royale that were eventually scrapped. Or perhaps they were thinking ahead and recording voice lines for the possibility that they would make a battle royale down the road. Or maybe they are planning to make one after launch and recorded the voice lines so that they don’t have to call Jeff Stietzer back to record more voice lines later. Either way I’d like to see what 343 can do with a Halo battle royale but I’m not exactly itching to have it right away either.

Not really, if they want to try a battle royale then make it its own stand alone thing and keep it out of a mainline title. Chasing money trends is fine when you don’t alienate your playerbase in the process and no one exactly plays halo for battle royale.

I think we’ll see a Halo Battle Royale at some point. Hopefully it’s a stand alone game so players that don’t like or don’t wan’t it can simply ignore it. I’m not basing my hunch on your link either. I’ve been saying it for ages in these forums, possibly a couple of years now that Halo will get a Battle Royale at some point. It’s inevitable, in my opinion.
I’d be fine with a BR styled infection mode, it would be a shame if BR was added in the first year, possibly 2. After the flops of 4, MCC and 5 if 343 can deliver, which it seems likely now, then lets not undermine it like warzone undermined H5, and give the core experience Halo’s been waiting for.
