Thankfully that’s only they daily challenge and not the weekly ones.
I said the exact same thing after I purchased it. I got so frustrated with the challenges due to FOMO on the weekly customization reward because there are so few options right now. However, this week I really have no desire to get the reward. IT IS GAME CHANGING when you’re not concerned with completing the challenges.
This is true.
The progression and challenge system is garbage, and is creating a garbage environment to play in.
This is a game historically know for its toxicity it terms of betraying teammates for weapons before there was a carrot on a stick for them to do it.
That pretty much sums up the entirety of what’s wrong with the challenge system. How 343 didn’t recognize this fact during implementation is completely beyond me.
Lmao what a patently ridiculous thing to say. That’s like If you and your friends were playing a game of monopoly but one of your friends kept using his turn to take a dump all over the board because that’s how he “enjoyed the game most” and that play style is of no more value than yours when you’re actually playing the game correctly.
Likely wasn’t 343’s doing. It was probably an external hand at -Yoink!- that put this in without their control.
This is why I don’t buy Battlepasses
I am actually inclined to agree with the sentiment, despite actually liking the concept of challenges in itself. In the MCC I had fun and it was not a hassle to complete most challenges but in Infinite I kinda dread the refresh of challenges every week.
Often times I start to have more fun when all the “chores” of the week are done and I can play the way I like, instead of sabotaging myself by using a terrible weapon or trying to make situations happen that just put my team at a disadvantage. I can see that 343 has done some revisions already, but there are still some nonsense challenges left that need to go.
Just like in battlefield too! As long as you get a good 4/5 man squad, you can steamroll lobbies Becuase you are well coordinated amongst the sea of automotons. In a sense the big 24/32/64 player matches devolve back to that 4v4 Goldilocks zone.
I’m the player that always plays the objective. I get frustrated when others don’t, so I tried to be selfish and complete my last weekly challenge, without regard to my team. I had to get 10 vehicle splatters. So, after about 20 BTB matches (I found myself playing the objective halfway through most of them until I realized I was supposed to complete my challenge), my weeklies were done. But the consequences to everyone else were probably more than my actual reward. Think about it. Capture the Flag with few vehicles for your team because I jumped in one as soon as possible in hopes to get a splatter, only to get demolished instantly, before actually getting one. The same goes with the other BTB game modes. I cared about how it effected my team, but I wanted to understand the impact it really had. Most players don’t care about others, like I do, but that also goes beyond completing challenges or objectives in any game. Some players want to have the best K/D. Some players want to have the most Wins. Some players want to complete challenges or the battle pass before anyone else. All of these are factors into poor MP experiences.
I’ve never played any Halo with goals in mind other than the goals of the game I’m in - capture the flag, kill count etc. I just play and don’t pay any attention to all these silly and complex tasks they want us to engage with. I know that many of you can’t relate to this, but that’s how I do it. Probably because I can’t focus on multiple things at one time very well, so I just stick with the most basic point of the game. In fact my abilities are so limited that I dont even use most of the features of the game or controller. For example I almost never jump except to cross a gap or get up on something. I am greatly amused by other players who constantly jump around like crazed bunnies or grasshoppers on LSD. Its just so stupid looking.
So anyway, I would suggest people do as OP says and just don’t bother with all this complex busy work the devs throw at us and focus on the most minimal basic point of the game. It’s more fun this way, really.
I was looking at the Home Screen on infinite today;
where it says ‘shop’ it should say ‘stats’ and the ‘season 1’ box we should be able to toggle it off.
There also should be a challenge playlist.
I usually just want to do something in particular, like drive around or use different gear. Lately, I’ve taken to playing ranked with the mangler and disruptor because I want to appreciate those weapons more and it’s lead to some fun matches.
I remember a while ago I opened a topic on this… There are no incentives to WIN in this game.
Moreover, winning is counterproductive.
Except for in ranked, where it boosts your elo. Or the challenges that want you to win. Or just wanting to win to win.
But yes, no incentives to win whatsoever.
I won’t be buying the next one. Or any for that matter. I’ll beat campaign and Halo will be dead to me.
Hell, the person at the bottom of the score that only got 1 kill with a ravager the whole game to complete his challenge gets more experience than the top player.
This is how I know you are trolling. Nobody has ever got a kill with the Ravager.
It makes for a nice area denial weapon, there’s just no maps out that are good for area denial. Like that Halo 3 map on the space station that was mostly hallways, that’d be a good one for it.
Challenge playlist is a really good idea! especially if it can lump together people who have the same ‘win x objective match’ challenge, because then they’ll all be incentivized to, you know, actually work for the objective.
It is possible. Maybe spend some time in the weapons drills? I’ve gotten a few kills with the Ravager but I had to spend some time learning how it worked and how to place my shots first.
