The game is not ready for SWAT, yet

I am glad to see SWAT in Halo Infinite but it lacks some serious stuff.

  • First the scoping in this game. For some reason you automatically quit scoping when you get shot and you cannot disable it. For sniping and distance fights it’s super frustrating, especially in SWAT when you have to hit the head over long distances.
  • Second, the weapon variety in this game mode is like not existing. You are only able to use the Battle Rifle and that’s it. At least add a Sidekick as secondary in the mode like in any other Halo. I miss the DMR in Infinite but at least there is the Stalker Rifle as a replacement. Maybe add this one to the mode instead? A burst weapon is not optimal for this mode since you have to aim straight at the opponents head for a kill.
  • My last complain is about the maps for SWAT. In general the maps are all well designed and working fine for the other game modes. In my opinion the available maps aren’t fun to play with SWAT. I miss the maps from Halo Reach, it felt so amazing playing SWAT in this game and I hope to see this in Infinite as well.

  1. Halo has always had de-scope on being shot. This is not new nor does it need to go away.

  2. SWAT has always been BR only except for when they added DMRs, which no one used because it was an inferior weapon due to just having less bullets per shot.

  3. The only one I’ll agree with you in is we need more maps with cover for SWAT.

I’m on console, just came across a M&K user who either had the most ungodly reaction times, or had wall hacks because watching back in theatre mode it really looks like he was able to aim and prefire as people turned corners or broke cover before they were on screen.

Even without that though, the point I’m getting at is I really think Swat should have crossplay / cross-input able to be disabled like ranked. Regular halo is one thing with inputs being balanced or not - but sweet is entirely different. A mouse user with high dpi and good reactions is just better at clicking on an enemies head than a controller user is period. Especially with the vertical sensitivity being so low on controller. Swat is perfectly fine in balanced console lobbies but when I play against that I just wanna give up the gamemode tbh.

I also miss the DMR. I understand that swat starting in halo 3 was BR but I’ve never been a fan of burst weapons and 75% of my playtime in reach matchmaking must have been swat. though ill add that in atleast a few iterations swat had your pistol as a secondary which would also be nice.

There is no such thing to turn off crossplay, a matter of fact for whatever reason, 343 didn’t even include turning off crossplay is already suspicious in its own right. How come no one ever asks them why this was never included.

Bad enough we are dealing with people with modded controllers which Microsoft Xbox owns its own never to bother to fix this on Xbox Live, but now we have to play with hackers on PC.

This should be brought to the meeting and be dealt with it.

Its called Descoping, been in the series since CE I believe.

Agree.

I have no idea how people can dislike/like maps for SWAT, its pretty much the same experience no matter what map.

Yeah the maps straight up suck for swat and the crossplay is crap completely takes the fun out of it.

I want swat manglers. It will be called swanglers.

Also sidekicks. Call it swidekicks.

And stalker rifles. Swalkers.

With an option to veto of course.

My feelings exactly. Swat feels great on the smaller maps or those with more cover. Some maps though, like Behemoth really shouldn’t be used because they are either too big or long-range and wide open, which is normally where you would use shields to survive running cover to cover. I just had a Behemoth match that resulted in the enemy team camping on rocks and picking us off as we tried to either find them or get within range.

No stalker rifles and I’d talk about accepting the others alongside BR Swat and Swatnums.

Wall hacks and stuff are sometimes hard to judge in Swat. Players like myself have been playing Swat long enough to develop an instinctive knowledge of where head-level is often pair that with map control knowledge to predict where enemies are likely to spawn or be hiding.

I’m all down for other gametypes in SWAT besides human weapons all the time. Like don’t get me wrong I definitely enjoy BR SWAT but its nice to have mix of gametypes instead of the same thing all the time.

So the new gametypes I would definitely like to see are…
Magnum SWAT
Stalker SWAT
BR CTF SWAT
BR Oddball SWAT
Stalker Rifle (Carbine Weapon Variant) SWAT
Commando (DMR Weapon Variant) SWAT

As for the option to turn off unzoom when fired at I wouldn’t mind it being a Custom Game option for everyone to experience at once. But to have it as a option for individual players would make things unbalanced.

Only agree regarding map choice.
The only map I had fun on for SWAT was Streets.

Every other map I’m getting shot from god knows where.

lolwut
20 characters seems excessive for this one

I had a pretty good match on Launchsite earlier. Just the right amount of corners and open ranges to duck around and through.

OLOL are you serious? You don’t like descoping and want to play SWAT. You should be playing Call of Duty.

I mean; there’s been ten threads a day asking why a crossplay toggle wasn’t included.

which still, as I said, is suspicious on its own not to have it already from day one. I am just not having fun anymore.
