The game Blue Team Deserves

I was SO hyped when we learned that Blue team was going to be in Halo 5. Like beyond hyped, Fall of Reach is one of my favorite Halo books. But in Halo 5 they didn’t seem to have much character development and didn’t get the justice they deserved.

I know we are getting more John in Infinite but if we are going to flesh out his humanity more what better way to do that with his family; Blue Team. IMHO if Infinite focused on just Master Cheif (mainly), Fred, Linda, Kelly, and Thel to lead Infinite as the star studded cast I think 343 would be on to something here.

Blue Team at the beginning of the game should be different at the end of the game going through significant character development. The Halo TV show apparently makes a huge point on having deep characters I hope this translate to Infinite as well.

I think the new writer knows what’s up and it will show. I too was pretty pumped about having them all in Halo 5. It’s a shame that Halo 5 introduced them to players the way it did. That goes for basically every character in the game too.

I really hope this is the case! I don’t know much about the new writer.

There need’s to be moment in halo infinite that really changes them makes their characters do a complete 180.

5’s issue was flooding the campaign with too many characters, or atleast characters that weren’t established completely. I think focusing on just Blue Team specifically would be wonderful and be easier to build off of than a whole other fireteam on top of it. If they were to give us more concerning other characters, I’d be open to another mode similar to like a side campaign added post-launch for perspectives of those other characters. Just a thought.

I honestly don’t understand why or how Osiris and Fred, Linda, and Kelly just came out so…flat. I mean, did they have only one person working on character development or did they have a team? Because it feels like they dumped the whole thing on one guy and so they made basic character development which is practically blank. I mean, Fred’s supposed to be wicked smart, even by Spartan standards, Kelly was supposed to be this fast, somewhat bouncy yet by the books Spartan, and Linda was said to be the most lone wolf of the group but extremely deadly and hard to catch.

What did we get?

Fred - a basic Spartan who sounds like he should be leading the team, but doesn’t (which I mean, is fine; he supposedly gave up leadership to John a long time ago.)

Kelly - exposition girl of Blue Team who is slightly faster than everyone else

Linda - the one who notices everything and seems to have quite a bit of dialogue for someone who’s supposedly super quiet and to herself.

They didn’t even really give us much to go on for Osiris. We learned that Vale learned how to speak Sangheili while adrift out on a ship for long periods of time. Tanaka has some kind of PTSD from something that happened a long time ago that should technically nix her out of potential Spartan augmentation and conditioning? We already know a bit about Buck; ODST leader, was a distinguished soldier, had a love interest related to ONI (Veronica Dare), was on Reach at some point during the fall in 2552 (if that is even canon) and several other bits I don’t know because I still need to read a lot of the novels and comics). Locke? All we know is he was an ONI Spook who was tasked with learning about Thel Vadam to assassinate him. (There may be other bits of information I’m missing, but again, I still have yet to read ANY of the novels, etc, etc) Playing the game you wouldn’t know much about these characters; especially since it seems like some individuals don’t care to go back and play the previous games, rather, they would prefer to treat this like a current gen CoD where they should only need to play the ones they want to if it interests them.

We need more to go on guys, give us the deets on Blue Team! Flesh them out and add them to Infinite!

If they do return, there needs to be a cutscene(s) showing off all of their specialties.Their specialties as Spartans is one of their biggest defining traits.

Their bond with Chief also needs some spotlight.

I think in 5 they treated Blue Team as a blank team of Spartans, only the lore fans really knew about them, so not to throw off game fans they treated them like blank characters. I hope in Infinite they expand on them the way the lore has, and from where the books left them. It would give them a lot more depth and I think everyone would like it.

I agree 100%, and that needs to be done without having a team member die or simply not following orders. We need a juicy 180.

Bad writing is why they came out so flat!! Honestly makes me so annoyed with Halo 5, it could have had an amazing conspiracy story with ONI. Instead we got a lazy terminator Cortana…

So your saying to pull a Intersteller kind of? So maybe up till halfway of the game the characters realize something’s up, it gets all dramatic and they have to rush somewhere else/do something else? That would be cool, like seeing the Arbiter’s two sides in H2 when realizing the Great Journey’s flaws.

You’re out here doing good work, OP.
Thank you for reminding folks just how good these characters are and how much they deserve more & far better than what H5 did with them.

blue team needs justice i hope 343i does justice to my favorite charecters in halo such as the arbiter and blue team.

Yeah kinda like the arbiter’s realization of the prophets true plans. I always visualize a moment were the UNSC or ONI cautious of Master Chief and blue team due to their actions in halo 5 attempt to silence the team of Spartans and in a last ditch effort Blue team either destroys Cortana and dies with her or they defeat Cortana and escape to the Elites home world to be under the protection of the arbiter and no longer have to live under the orders of ONI were Blue team can finally live in peace.

Hey I’ve had that idea for years since H5 released! Its always been another story possibility where in the end, Master Chief has to kill Cortana. All this time he’s been trying to find ways to save her from this corruption, but it would be a nice idea for him to finally come to terms with this, and just go LASO mode on Cortana in the end.

I hope Blue Team is in H6. The game can still be Chief focused even if his team is still there.

I would actually love that ending for Cheif and blue team. UNSC and ONI thinking they are dead, but they aren’t actually living out the rest of their days on a hostile alien planet. Sweet. Cheif In a pancho perferbly to.

I’m not sure that would really fit Blue team. They’ve been raised and forged for war. I don’t see just chillin’ out on Sangheilios suiting them.
I think what would fit them better would be retiring from active duty and overseeing the training of the Spartan-IVs, when the time would come.

True the combat life style is all they’ve known but the idea is a nice one. Their are many other stories form different games and movies were the main character who has only known war’s just wants to live his/her life in peace after losing a very close friend.
