The future of video games

Hello, I have a question. What are your hopes for the future of video games going forward? Personally, I am hoping that we can see video games like Halo, Assassin Creed, Grand Theft Auto, Splinter Cell, Ghost Recon and Rainbow Six going in a style of the God of War 2018 video game where they can film the entire video game in one continuous shot without cutting any scenes.

i agree with how you feel

  • Crunch culture:
Nobody should have to work extra just to reach the deadline, it shouldn’t even be allowed. Companies should plan their deadlines realistically and give the developers more time than is likely needed, if they have spare time towards the end they can use that to polish more and make the product better. And games should always rather be delayed than mistreating employees.

  • More creativity and identity:
Most games now just feel like “another game”, games used to create their own ideas in a whole different way. younger people who are used to shooters but have never played Halo are literally confused when they try it, and they think that “this is not how it’s supposed to be”, for example that you can’t scope and shoot at the same time with the AR. And that’s the problem, there are so many norms which games are almost not allowed to break, which makes games too similar.
I want more focus on single player experiences with great stories, even though this is not where the big money is. And I want more games with creative AI behaviours.

I would like to see the industry try and focus on new IP’s with new stories on campaigns. Also would like to see more single player content instead of just PVP all the time.

This is where it’s at.

Multiplayer increasingly will be dominated by the BattlePass type systems and MTX to keep support going over the course of a game’s life, but single player experiences can absolutely net great profit too - especially if being built using underlying engines and technologies available.

For me that’s one of the most exciting things about the slipspace engine because now tje investment has been made in it, more possibilities open up

I would like this but I don’t mind how it is now.

I hope stuff just says as it is right now, although I do miss old ways of gaming I feel like stuff right now is a good mixed balance

Downhill if those are your hopes for video games
And downhill in reality

More companies take the Doom approach to DLC instead of beating us over the head with MTX

This ^^^

I would gladly pay for a DLC rather than pay for MTX’s, Doom nailed it with the Ancient Gods 1, it was one of the few times I spent money on a DLC and went “Money well spent”. DLC’s are the way to go!

(also, Ancient gods pt.2 hype!)
