So I personally loved Halo 4, but honestly it did get old quickly. despite being the best selling game in the franchise many people disagree. Without going into to the whys and hows I am curious to see how many people are actually looking forward to Halo 5 and how many people will buy it even with all of the disappointed Halo fans.
I would absolutely hate to see this franchise become unpopular especially with the new Xbox coming out. The one thing that has disappointed me is that 343 has come out with absolutely NO explanation for why only 20,000 people of the 9 million that bought the game are playing online…that is an absolute disgrace.
343 has said nothing and even after all of the controversy they’re making games like Spartan assault and now there making a halo TV Show? what they need to do is concentrate on making Halo 5 the best game ever and get people to get back into the game.
Halo 4 may have outsold it predecessors, but it certainly didn’t live up to the expectations the community had for it. I am one of a vocal majority of gamers who have lost faith in 343i and the franchise as a whole. 343’s inability to be professional in admitting their mistakes was immature and left a lot of the community upset. I for one agree with them 100% when they say that Halo 4 is dying and no amount of time on 343’s part will fix the damage.
Now, I come here and see that there are a few who would defend this game to their graves (and a few who claim that it is the best game ever) and all I can do is shake my head in both disbelief and disgust. I am sad with the state 343 has put Halo in and I wouldn’t be surprised if Halo 5 didn’t come close to outselling its leading competitors.
Halo 5 has many hurdles it needs to pass before I’ll be getting it.
Step 1: The Xbox One needs to be worth buying. Frankly, I have no interest in the console. Even if Halo 5 is an exceptional Halo game, that is the only title I would be willing to buy. I have almost no interest in the exclusives that come with the Xbox One. Destiny and TESO are available for the PC, and I really wish Halo was too.
Step 2: Halo 5 needs to actually be a good game. If the game doesn’t fit my standards, there’s simply no reason for me to pay over $500 for it. I will not be spending $500 just to be shoved into a mediocre classic playlist and forced to pay $20 for the only good maps in the game.
Step 3: Halo 5 needs to survive what is thrown at it. Ok, so let’s say Halo 5 is good, and the Xbox One launches with other titles that interest me. But then the newest Call of Duty comes out, or some other brand new franchise comes out, and the population plummets because Halo 5 isn’t good enough to compete.
I’m gonna be blunt: I think matchmaking is a terrible system. A server browser works fine, regardless of the game’s population. But a matchmaking system requires a hefty population in order to find you matches within a decent time span. I don’t need the game to find matches for me, I can do it myself. I can find a match in Halo PC much faster than I can in Halo 4, and Halo PC only has around 100 players.
And if they decide to keep the matchmaking system, they better be focused on competing hard with other franchises then. Because that is the only way they will stand a chance. I mean, 343I is going to need to give it everything they have if they want any chance at surviving the next generation.
So good luck to 343I, they are going to need it. I’m not going to buy a Halo game and only have it last a month or two.
And I’m not saying all of this is impossible by any means. But it’s going to be very unlikely in my opinion.
I’m a Sci-Fi guy to the end of my gaming career and I have to say that without Halo, none of this competition would even be here. I will look forward to the day when it reclaims its top spot of shooters. The other competition like CoD basically ripped Halo’s core and added perks sprint and all that other garbage.
Halo needs to stand out, to be unique.
Halo needs to survive and destroy the competition
(why not buy that game when it has everything the other has but better)
Halo needs to perfect Loadouts and Ordanance
Halo needs a stellar, out of this world campaign
Halo needs good fps and graphics
Halo needs to bring back map control and power weapon priorities.

That would invalidate the first point you made Loadouts and Ordinance are NOT Halo.
OT: I’m super excited for Halo 5. My expectations for it are really high.

Frankie, the lead guy of 343i, said they made some mistakes with Halo 4.
No one at Bungie admitted their mistake with Reach because they were too stubborn to admit it. They seriously believe Reach is the best Halo game ever made.
Because of that, I’m assuming you’ve lost faith in Bungie and won’t play Destiny, right?

4 million people bought Halo 4 on Day1. Only 400,000 of them played online on Day1.
Frank may have pointed out some flaws, but they were not the big flaws that 343 refused to acknowledge. Need I remind you of the backlash of their first DLC’s release? Or maybe you want the rest of Halo 4’s shortcomings? After we made it clear to 343 that their game was flawed and it needed to be fixed, 343 simply smiled and blatantly lied to us claiming that it was part of some grand scheme, that it was all part of the plan.
Who in their right mind would take such a developer seriously if that was all they could say to acknowledge their mistakes?
> That would invalidate the first point you made Loadouts and Ordinance are NOT Halo.
You forgot to write “in my opinion”, but seriously this is why people call this fanbase “afraid of change”. You reject ideas not based on whether they improve or degrade gameplay, but on the basis of it not being in the first three.
In my opinion 343i can add whatever the hell they want, so long as it works toward fair and balanced gameplay.

That number is how many people can be on at any given time not a daily population number. But yes the population did drop for many reasons besides the changes.
I personally loved halo 4 over all and am looking forward to halo 5.

I love this post. I agree so much with you, Sinner.
im not even going to think about buying halo 5 until it has been out at least a month. i blindly bought halo 4 in the hopes it would be good despite what we already knew at the time. thats not happening again. unless i see massive improvements ill be spending my time in destiny.
I lost count on how many times I heard frank and other 343 employees say “trust us”.
Look were that went.
On the other hand, I can’t understand how anybody could like H4. I think its the worst halo ever made. Oh yeah I remember when bungie said that they believe Reach was the best Halo they’ve ever made. I really don’t know how they can believe that

I have to agree with most of this. I’m really just pretty much done with Halo because of how 343i has handled things.
I’m going to staying on Destiny pretty much all the time.

I will meet you there! Destiny and Dragon Age: Inquisition are the only games thus far that I am truly excited for. Nothing else really stands out as groundbreaking to me and nothing (in terms of launch titles) really compels me to waste $500 on an Xbox One. As I said before, I am finished with Halo. It has been a good run, but 343’s inability to take the blame for their mistakes has turned me away from the franchise I grew up playing.
I only hope 343 matures with age and gets it right the second time. If not, they will lose all credibility as far as I am concerned and truly prove that they don’t care about what we as a community think.
I have no plans to get an xbox one and honestly haven’t though much about Halo 5.
This is weird to me because I used to be all over the next Halo games and wouldn’t care if I had to buy a new console or not. I did it without question for Halo CE in 2001 to get xbox original and again with Halo 3 for Xbox 360. But not this time, Halo might be over for me.
I really wanted an Xbox One, but with many personal issues happening in real life I’m not getting it right now. I am sad panda since I won’t have the Day One edition. :’(
I guess I’d much rather prefer the Halo 5 Xbox One edition, but I don’t think I’ll even be able to get that. From what it seems it could be one year away. Still, I’d be even more of a sad panda than I am now.
Anyways, as much as Halo 4 tanked for many of us, I’ll be awaiting for Halo 5 and get the highest edition and the Xbox One version. I’m still a Halo fan, but since hopefully I’ll have more money I’d like to spend it on Halo. It may be a Halo 4 2.0, but I’ll take that chance.
