The future of Halo Infinite

I did not want to write something in these forums anymore, but disabling the forums and the chance of getting an exclusive forum member emblem makes me write one last topic. Drop!

Jokes aside, I do not want to criticize the game. The game speaks for itself. I just can recommend @BunkerDweller (YouTube) reviews. I just want to sum up my thoughts about the future of Halo Infinite.

Will Halo Infinite change the engine?
Hell no, that would be impossible to do.

But I can really imagine, that Tatanka is made in another enfine than slipspace. If the rumors are true and Tatanka is a BR(-like) game, Desync in the game engine would immediatly wipe out the whole playerbase. Desync in BRs are way worse, because you have less combat scenarios than in an arena shooter and prepare for the fights. If desync appears and cannot be fixed, it would produce way more frustration than in an arena shooter.

The new management has produced way better stuff and will safe the game
Sorry, but all the stuff was already pre-produced under the Bonnie Ross era. With all the lay-offs and the horrible engine you cannot make the cutscenes etc. in such a short time. Remember when Bonnie Ross before retirement said, that season 3 will be the turning point? She said that so confidently, because she knew what content would be released.

I believe that Pierre Hintze is more an administrator than GM like Ross, because he was put in charge to administrate the fix of MCC, not to be creative their and make business decisions. He did a pretty decent job with MCC, but that game did not appeal to more people than the hard core of Halo fans.

Pierre Hintze can only do that, what is possible to do. Halo Infinite is on a timer, MCC not because of H5.

What do you mean with “timer”?
After all the lay-offs, the official jump-off of Joe Staten and Kiki Wolfkill, the mysterious disappearing of Frank o`Connor and the confirmed reports of Jason Schreier and the glassdoor reviews and the production of Tatanka it is clear, that their will be no more campaign DLC, no Halo 7 in many many years. It is not even in planning.

They released all the creative sections that were responsible for the great artstyle, got rid of all veterans and even Joe Staten left. That can only mean, that the decision whether there will be another 343 game anymore is not made or they have already decided to pull the plug of HI.

When only Halo Infinite makes money as Live Service Game for 343 and Microsoft anymore and is the sole factor of producing costs (keep in mind, no other projects for 343), Microsoft will pull the plug of Halo Infinite when the costs are higher than the income or the income is only a bit higher than the costs.

When all the pre-produced content is gone and producing new content makes too many costs, HI will end like Anthem. Playable without support. Apropos support, still no tweet regarding the massive bugs with Season 3.

But Halo is XBox flagship game
No, with buying Activision/Blizzard, #fire343 and the abysmal state of Halo as “juggernaut” of FPS for 11 years Halo will not be the flagship game of XBox anymore. CoD is still too big and popular and costs so freaking much, that XBox`s face will not be a game anymore that lost over 95% of the playerbase since release within months.

Just look at the steamcharts. Halo Infinite just doubled with season 3 the number of players to a peak of ca. 12.8k players. Oc Halo is way more popular on XBox, but the ratio to before and after the update is the same. The numbers are embarassing, especially if you compare it to Destiny, BF2042, CoD etc.
And regarding XBox-Charts of most played games: XBox does not release exact player numbers to manipulate the charts on purpose. And even then HI is in Europe in the last 10 of the top 50 after the update.
So much faith does Microsoft have in HI.

The numbers on Twitch do not represent the playerbase. Many people just watch HI because their team is playing. when Optic plays, the number of viewers increases up to 10k. Many people do not play Halo anymore, but at least HCS because of the good old times stays important for them etc.

But with shorter seasons there will be enough money
No. it wont. The playerbase is dwindling more and more. The number of players in Season 3 is way lower than in the beginning of season 2.

The state of the game becomes worse and worse. There is more content, but so many things are broken and so many new things will be broken. And they do not have enough developers to fix things properly. Even shorter seasons can not rescue the playerbase in a broken game.

When will Microsoft pull the plug at latest?
I would say with the acquirement of and implementing Activision/Blizzard. Then at latest Microsoft will move all the ressources to those games, because they produce way more money than HI and 343. The costs will finally generate enough income and they do not have the danger of making too many losses.

Will Microsoft announce pulling the plug?
No, it would hurt the income. It will be like Anthem or Google Stadia. Mentioning that everything is fine and finish it in the last second.

Thats it. Maybe I could help some people to get real in the very end.

P.S. Reaction to topics or comments is still “chaged my mind”. So much regarding love to the forums. Not even a fix for a wrong spelling.

P.P.S ༼ づ ಠ_ಠ ༽づ Summon Collision ༼ づ ಠ_ಠ ༽づ , even if that is only nostalgia now.
