I can’t avoid thinking about the future of Halo 5: Guardians.
Like most of you know, the end of these free monthly updates arrives in June/July. It’s pretty clear that, in some way, these updates keep some people playing the game.
Another guess is the release of Halo 6. I know it’s pretty soon to talk about it, but if we follow the usual formula, Halo 6 will be released on 2018, right?
The question is: Will Halo 5 Guardians be able to endure until 2018?
I don’t think so, but it’s just my opinion. That is why three things came to my mind:
Halo 6 to be released in 2017. Halo is a game that needs continuity, and now it has more competence than ever. Why not?
A great DLC update (like the Taken’s King of Destiny)
Monthly paid DLCs
I think Halo 5 needs something to keep people playing, but what?
What do you guys think?
they just need to keep doing what theyre doing and they will be fine.
have a team do monthly updates and another team do halo 6. Hell halo 5 mp is so smooth all they would really have to do for 6 is just move it over add a ton of new maps and unlocks and i believe the community would be happy. why throw away a good thing ?
Why? If people enjoy the game, people wiill play the game.
The updates will run until June/July, and with Wars 2 dropping around November, I expect we will see one more larger update around September, possibly a paid map pack?
As for 2017, given the state Halo 5 launched in, I highly doubt that 343 will drop Halo 6 to a 2 year dev cycle!
I imagine that they will release some kind of campaign DLC sometime in late 2017 to keep us going. They could even make it last longer by say dropping a mission every 2 weeks to make the experience last around 3-4 months.
I don’t expect to see Halo 3 Anniversary though.
It is worth pointing out that although the updates have only been revealed up until june, it does not (to my knowledge) state they will stop at this point.

This is also true. The stated that he updates would run untill ‘at least’ June.
There is nothing to say that they could continue the updates untill Halo Wars 2 drops.
Though by that point, I’d want something more than a map and a bunch o REQs that don’t really care about. Bring on the story DLC.

I think they’ll drop more, they need people to retain interest to keep buying REQS and with Warzone FF coming out they will hopefully add more maps for time to come, might drop the monthly to quarterly or something though?

We still have the reach update, warzone firefight, hog wild, and more. How is this going to end in July?

It just doesn’t look my kinda game, as soon as I heard it was like destiny I stopped even thinking about playing it. And all I see is loads of people getting murdered by high level sweeties when they try get loot
Hold up a sec, are you seriously asking paid DLCs? Please tell me you’re joking. Halo doesn’t need anymore micro transactions. I honestly don’t want this brilliant title to become another “pay-more-money-destiny-cod-wreck”.
We already have enough of those in the form of many triple A games and the mobile platform.

He’s referring to Destiny where year 1 exotics were all but useless because year 2 exotics were better light.
This is is a COMPLETELY different game from Destiny and that will not happen R3dMarine.
