The future of Halo 4 :-(

Hello. Do you care about your halo community. Where is the competive gaming that you promised us at the last e3? Where are the ranks, balancing of the weopans like the br? Where are the competive maps, you promised us?. The whole time im playing Haven or Adrift in infinite slayer and in big team, Exile or Ragnarök. There are so many issues with this game you had almost 4 month to listen to your community and to fix those problems. You gave us a beta game and fake promises. This so ridiculous. Almost every Halo pro turned his back on halo. And whats up with this contract with -Yoink!- Gaming!!! I paid almost 90 euros for this game. And what did i get? Nothing but a half finished game. Do you even recognised that black ops 2 is even more competetiv than Halo 4??? BLACK OPS 2?! You have a certain reputation as the new crew who is in charge of Halo. I Love halo. But for now im playing Cod and H3 againe. I hope you are happy now, you got my money. But was is it really worth it, to sacrifice your community, your fans? Just think about it. What would you do if you were in my posotion? I hope you are satisfied now , you broke my heart 343…(I apologize in advantage for my bad english, im frome germany)

I understand that there are some problems with the game man, but it seems like your being kind of rude, but that is just my opinion. They are adding alot of things this month and next month: 2v2 maps, Forge map beta playlist, ranking system. The only problem i have with the game is the dmr. In my opinion on cod game is more competitive then any halo because you die a lot faster than any other halo game.

Just be patient. This was 343’s first real halo game and i think that they played it to safe in order to please the fans, but ended up making mistakes by doing the new things they did do

They have even admitted that they made a lot of mistakes, so just wait. We may be fans of the game, but it is not are game entirely.

You mad bro?

Last time I checked ranks didn’t make Halo the game it is today.
I don’t see why people are raising their blood pressure over something so little as Ranks.
Also weapon balancing… They are pretty much balanced. People just love to complain that the BR isn’t on top, in almost every thread i’ve seen about DMR being OP is that they never compare the weapons to all just the BR with the DMR. both weapons are used just as much as the other and both are great weapons in general.

I am probably one of the only Competitive players that disagrees with adding visible ranks to the game because it really doesn’t change gameplay if it only shows on waypoint.

> Ranks and weapon balancing is just the tip of the iceberg, my friend. Yes, a visual ranking system that is live and in-game is a huge issue that needs to be addressed and weapon balancing is also a problem. Contrary to your belief the DMR is a much more effective weapon because of how big the maps are. The DMR is supposed to be a mid-long range weapon so since most of the maps are mid-long range, the DMR is a much better weapon (I don’t care though, BR is the way to go even if its worse). The reason the maps are so big is because of sprint, which needs to be addressed as well. The maps themselves are downright pitiful. Haven is the only playable map and even it has its flaws. Additionally, you have the face that there are no competitive playlists so there goes a portion of the community right there. Join in progress is broken. Having guests play along actual gamers in all playlists ruins balance… Etc. So you see, although those arent the only issues, there are still issues with the game that need to be fixed or I, like b1fr0st, might stop playing H4 as well.

No, I don’t care about the community, because the community is choosing to die. Seriously, the only thing that has happened since Halo 4 came out is a bunch of hate for the franchise. I stopped believing in the “Halo” community since all the hate came. Some “Halo” fans we have here.

Out of all the points the OP brought up, you had to up and dispute ranks. I’m not surprised, though. I noticed you’ve been hard at work trying to shut down the cause.

How can you claim to be a competitive player and oppose something that, by nature, encourages competition? There is a reward for every real competitive thing in life—be it money, recognition, medals, trophies, certificates, etc.

When I go into any current playlist, there is no risk or reward. I can choose to sit back and be half dormant because nothing is on the line. If I lose, I still get experience and rank up. If I win, I get experience and rank up. Why bother improving my skill level? Even Hellen Keller could make it to SR130 simply by participating. If I can’t be recognized for my dedication and self-improvement, what is the point in competing or working to improve? Quick answer: there is none.

As it currently stands, there is practically nothing to work for in Halo 4. I mean, some people might aim to achieve a new armor stance or emblem, but that isn’t very demanding in terms of improving your own level of skill. Everything can be achieved just by playing a bunch of games.

In past Halo titles (prior to Reach, that is) players were encouraged to work on their skill level in order to achieve a higher rank. They could witness their progress first hand and get a rough estimate of their opponents’ skill level prior to having to face them.

However, if players weren’t competitive by nature, they also had the option to play social games and custom games where they could fool around without a care in the world. Everybody benefits.

Now, you’re wondering why limiting ranks to Waypoint is problematic? It’s an unnecessary inconvenience. I’m grateful that they’re reintroducing ranks, but half the people won’t know about them if they’re on Waypoint. It feels disconnected from the game (like having to access the campaign’s terminals from Waypoint). Plus, every time I want to check out someone’s rank, I don’t want to have to get out of my comfortable position, go to my computer, load up Waypoint (which is really slow a majority of the time), remember their gamertags, search them up, and go back to my Xbox. Doesn’t that seem like an unnecessary hassle to you?

Ranks were mostly fine the way they were in Halo 3. An updated version, along with a highly responsive team, will help prevent most of the issues we noticed in Halo 3’s ranking system.

He’s not being rude at all!! In fact, considering the circumstances, he was being very gentile in his approach. The fact is that they have betrayed us by creating a CoD game with a Halo shell in order to entice some of the CoD fans. The problem is that they all stopped playing Halo 4 on the day that Black Ops 2 came out and they never came back. So we are left with a crappy halfway house of a game which is completely unbalanced and has not been well thought out at all. Halo is probably the most difficult game to mess up but they have managed to do it in a spectacular way. Please click on the hyperlink below in order to view my true feelings about this game. The people at 343 deserve to be burnt at the stake for heresy!

You are absolutely correct in all that you have said. I think your comment about Helen Keller hit the nail on the head. Nothing matters any more and even if you put your controller down for an hour, you will still gain experience. I remember when I would care so much about every game that I played in Halo 3. Nowadays I’ll leave games to make a coffee, roll a joint or even go to the toilet for a number 2. This was never my vision of “competitive” gaming.

> No, I don’t care about the community, because the community is choosing to die. Seriously, the only thing that has happened since Halo 4 came out is a bunch of hate for the franchise. I stopped believing in the “Halo” community since all the hate came. Some “Halo” fans we have here.

We haven’t chosen to die - they are killing us off! Remember that.

I honestly don’t understand why everyone is complaining…

The last Halo game I played before Halo 4 was Halo 3, and I loved it. Now I’m playing Halo 4 and I love it just as much as Halo 3! The only reason why I don’t love it more is because unfortunately I haven’t made enough online friends to have a good time so I get bored after a few rounds.

However, the new weapons are great (sure there’s the issue of the carbine and a couple of other weapons but in all halo games there’s been a problem with a few weapons being weaker or OP), the customisation options are nearly endless and the maps are fun to play in.

I don’t think 343 has ‘‘betrayed’’ us at all! In fact, they’ve done a bloody good job for their first halo game considering I can barely notice the difference between what Bungie did with halo 3 and this one. Only thing that isn’t as good as halo 3 I must admit is the soundtrack… and I miss a couple of the maps, but otherwise I’m very happy with how halo 4 turned out and if you think Black Ops is so good, just go and play Black Ops and stop criticising halo! You should have read reviews and watched gameplay before jumping into buying it; if you’re disappointed, it’s your own fault.

Yeah, you sound like a luke warm Halo fan at best so your opinions don’t carry much weight with me (reason being that you didn’t even try to play Reach). The fact is that 343 did betray us. They gave us a CoD game with a Halo skin. The game is totally unbalanced and not well thought out. If you really want to know the reasons why this game is so bad then please click on the hyperlink to my article entitled “Halo 4 makes me want to cry”.

See man sentences like that are what im talking about. 343 was afraid to even do any of the stuff because they wanted to please long time fans. The only thing i do not like that they didn’t do is a beta.

I also have some issues with the game too but i still love it. How about you tell me what you hate and ill tell you what i do not like. so that we both can get a different perspective on things.

I’ve been especially critical of Halo 4’s multiplayer lately. The main problem is that map control is no longer important. Also, a team that is getting hammered can just call in a rocket launcher and take everyone out, instead of holding the power weapon spawns. Also, no skill ranking system, no campaign theater/scoring, poor DMR and boltshot balancing, and, as I said, personal and random ordnance are issues for me. The campaign was amazing, however.

> No, I don’t care about the community, because the community is choosing to die. Seriously, the only thing that has happened since Halo 4 came out is a bunch of hate for the franchise. I stopped believing in the “Halo” community since all the hate came. Some “Halo” fans we have here.

So I should like a game simply because it says halo on the cover?

That logic is flawed.

Ok Diablo Soul. I read your thoughts on the site and i agree and disagree with some of your statements.

LOADOUTS

I believe that everyone now still starts on equal terms, but i feel like one of the your other complaints ruins loadouts: the dmr. If the dmr shot slower and was less easy to use then it would not be able to kill so fast.

In regard to weapons spawning, i think that they should make ordinance drops 8 kills and take out random spawns. By doing what a previously said with the dmr, i am confident that 8 kills will be obtained a lot earlier and frequently by skilled players but people who are not as good would still be able to get power weapons, but
specific weapons should still be in ordinances and specific weapons should be on the maps

GRENADES

The perk that you were talking about increases the radius of the grenades and slightly lowers their damage. And the regular grenades still take down your shields when close enough. I think i understand what they were trying to do, but taking away the ability to pick up grenades off enemies and allies, but having it as a perk take away from the new element that it could have added. They should have either taken it out or just keep it the same.

MEDALS

The medals or something that does not make the game unbalance, while some of them could be better, and who could use old ones, this is not something to get mad about.

BOLTSHOT

If the boltshot’s range was lowered to close range and the charge up period was actually a second, then it would be better.

Ok, i have read your opinions and i agree and disagree with some of your points.

LOADOUTS

I believe that everyone now still starts on equal terms, but i feel like one of the your other complaints ruins loadouts: the dmr. If the dmr shot slower and was less easy to use then it would not be able to kill so fast.

GRENADES

MEDALS

The medals or something that does not make the game unbalance, while some of them could be better, and who could use old ones, this is not something to get mad about.

BOLTSHOT

If the boltshot’s range was lowered to close range and the charge up period was actually a second, then it would be better.

PERSONAL ORDINANCE AND WEAPON SPAWNING

I think that personal ordinance is fine, but i believe that once the dmr is balanced then the more skilled players will earn it sooner and more often then people who cannot aim to even save their lives. IMHO weapon spawns should not be random, but certain weapons should be in ordinances like they are now. That way everyone will have access to power weapons, but the better players will have more weapons to choose from.

PERKS

Perks should either be obtained by achieving a certain level of a commendation or a certain number of a specific medal, but perks like the stability mod should be cut because they make flinch useless.
