Ive played every single Halo and gathered what I believe are the elements that make Halo Halo.
- Large Arenas
If you ever played the first halo or Anniversary at least you know that their were some pretty large campaign arenas, however ever since Halo 2 came out it has favored corridors and close proximity with the exception of ODST of course which gave you a friggin city.
- Tough Enemies
This one kind of goes without saying
- Large Battles
You remember playing Halo for the first time and walking outside the crouded corridors and there was this giant field … good times. I remember playing anniversary on the level the two betrayals and I just finnished fighting through this narrow corridor and Im outside and I see the flood and covie factions. I stood by and watched the battle not even bothering to intervene until the flood inevitably won, and it was awesome.
- Compelling Story
This is where Reach fails miserably, and I know what your thinking “well of course it was borring you dumb -blam!-, we knew how it was gunna end” well to that I say “-blam!- off” and also “That is no excuse” The story behind ODST was that a lost marine has to go find the remnents of his squad. It sounds so borring on paper but then bungie took that opportunity and filled it with GREAT characters, and Sadie’s story. What Im saying is that they made ODST about the characters and that aspect which could have been great about Reach was missing, and thats why 343 need to focus on it.
- Fun Vehicle levels
Again, goes without saying, but this aspect felt missing from reach.
- Competitive Mutliplayer
Yet another aspect missing from Reach. zips up flamesuit And Basically what I mean is that, when Halo came out people would carry their entire freakin xbox over to their friends house to play, and people actually played each other online before xbox live was even around. With the launch of Halo 2 and 3 and Xbox live Halo was number 1 in hours spent on xbox live multiplayer but with the launch of reach little after a year it was already down at number 8. Im not going to say its uncompetitive do to my particular taste because first I believe that the statistic speaks for itself.
Everything though at the end of the day is just opinion and none of it matters really, except that Halo 4 turns out to be as good as we need it to be.
