I am really digging the fact that Halo Infinite is going back to some of the roots of Halo, much more than Halo 5 and its COD/Power Rangers vibe it had going on. I feel much more Halo Reach and even some moments of Halo 3 in the gameplay and I love it.
That being said, the gameplay is fast, and possibly too much so.
I feel that there is a fundamental issue with combining:
1.) Bloom
2.) A (foolishly imo) close range sensor? (I’m not entirely sure what it’s supposed to be now. I feel that it rarely gives me useful information because it either is not pinging the enemy or the enemies move so fast that I see a red dot and the next instant they’re behind me somehow shooting me. I’m on controller, so it’s not like I can snap around with a million DPI and hill the guy with more accurate fire.)
3.) This absurd slide mechanic that is much MUCH worse than dropshotting ever could be because it combines super speed with downward motion that is very difficult to track on the controller. When you’re combining latency and spotty hit registration.
Honestly, I can deal with Bloom. It’s not my favorite, but in this game it’s not as aggravating as it was in Reach, 4, and 5 because the weapon sandbox gives you options.
But what I can’t abide is spending my matches screaming “FROM WHERE?” because I had been watching my radar, holding a corner, only for the enemy to slide passed it and shoot me in the back before I even know what happened. Like honestly I feel that sometimes people don’t even render and just teleport behind me.
I don’t want Halo Infinite to be Halo 3, and I like the direction it has taken, but it needs to go further. I don’t think the slide mechanic adds anything of value to the gameplay. There just isn’t a counterplay to it. I would think that the Radar would be the perfect counter to someone zooming around the map not caring about what they find but the Radar is useless. It doesn’t work half the time and its 20 foot radius is useless for how fast the players move now. So either remove sliding, or make the radar worth using. Because starting everyone off with a bloom weapon and having everyone sliding behind each other hoping their hits will register and the bloom will be favorable is honestly kinda dumb.

Number 2 and 3 made me laugh pretty hard lmao… Bro if you’re bad, you’re bad, it’s okay to say it…
95% of players are average because of this reason alone “But what I can’t abide is spending my matches screaming “FROM WHERE?” because I had been watching my radar, holding a corner, only for the enemy to slide passed it and shoot me in the back before I even know what happened. Like honestly I feel that sometimes people don’t even render and just teleport behind me.”
Get some awareness and stop trying to camp in halo
The tracker does need to be bigger yeah, I find myself always trying to look at it when I get shot at, and I never see anything. The short range makes it hardly ever useful as its not even as big as the AR range seems to be

I mean… stay mad and bad I guess. There’s a reason 95% or more of halo players are average at best

What I don’t understand is there is a Bloom toggle in the UI. So why would they be giving us the option to shut it off but I also have it in the game? At this point bloom it’s just such a pointless featuring can never understand why it’s even in the game to begin with however when I turn the bloom toggle off nothing happens so I’m guessing that’s just a bug in this build…

The radar range is not fine it needs to be increased so it’s more useful which is what it’s intended to do so don’t say that the range is fine because it’s not.
Because although it’s not quite useless at the moment it’s still pretty useless at times
Be adaptive. Us old head Halo players have no choice but to do so. This game wasn’t made for us from the OG days, it’s for the Apex. COD, Fortnite crowd now. Which doesn’t upset me, times and trends change. Either keep up or keep getting owned.

If you make it much bigger you’d just have a bunch of people staring at their radars all game.

“Bloom (sometimes referred to as light bloom or glow) is a computer graphics effect used in video games, demos, and high dynamic range rendering (HDRR) to reproduce an imaging artifact of real-world cameras.”
…Very confusing since we have “weapon” bloom and “hud” bloom now.

I can deal with bloom (never liked it in Halo games) but its just ridiculous combining it with NO AIM ASSIST, its just not fun wasting a lot of ammo trying to get a single kill

Your opinion is useless, 0.90kd and 0.27 win ratio, you obviously dont know the game.

Most likely doesn’t change the actual mechanics but visually u won’t see the bloom on you crosshair anymore

Math is hard… so maybe start reading before speaking.
I saw the title and I was ready to like your post because I thought you would only complain about TTK being too fast so it makes the game feel faster than any Halo before but no, you went full on purist in there and failed at almost every point. I can only agree with you on point 1.
Btw why people say this game resembles more old Halos than Halo 5? At least Halo 5 had friendly fire, teammates collision, showing legs and actual physics on grenades, explosions and gravity hammer…
If you compare Halo 5 and Halo Infinite with Halo 3 for example, Halo 5 have a lot more in common with Halo 3 than Halo Infinite with Halo 3.
Differences from Halo 5 to Halo 3: Sprint, Slide, Clumber, Aiming (Zoom) with every weapon, Spartan Abilities and no Equipment (6 differences in the fundamental play)
Differences from Halo Infinite to Halo 3: Sprint, Slide, Clumber, Aiming (Zoom) with every weapon, no Friendly Fire, no Teammates Collision, no physics on explosions, nades and gravity Hammer (7 differences in fundamental play plus the no showing legs one)
So basically the only thing Halo Infinite have more in common to Halo 3 than Halo 5 is the equipment and no Spartan Abilities but that doesn’t compensate the fact that still has Sprinting, Slide, Clumber Aiming (Zoom) with every weapon and the new added lack of Friendly Fire, Teammates Collision, lack of physics in explosions, nades and gravity hammer and the lack of legs on my Spartan.
