Teaching you greedy devs that you shouldn’t do DLC basically the month after the game is released… and your maps should have been better overall.
Im more inclined to believe its Karma for the entire spec codes debacle.
Those horrible greedy devs. How dare they be asked by Microsoft to do early DLC to combat Call of Duty. What horrible people to do their jobs so they can go home and feed their families. Something should be done about this, we have to stop them. How dare they not make maps that suit everyone’s opinion of a good map. I can’t believe this…
> Im more inclined to believe its Karma for the entire spec codes debacle.
I was thinking the exact same thing. I got my code though not gloating but there are a ton of people im guessing who got the short end of the stick on it and its not really fair at all.
Flying spaghetti monster?
It’s these models exactly why the quality on a lot of games has gone down. You can’t support this when it is clearly the $$ they are thinking of… instead of delivering a quality game overall.
> Im more inclined to believe its Karma for the entire spec codes debacle.
I’m more inclined to believe it’s all the 10 year olds crying for the spec codes debacle. They seem to be happy stealing from developers.

Considering Im in the EU, was not eligable for a code through no fault of my own, and am in my 30’s I would submit that your talking crap. We are not stealing, taht implies we are taking something without concent. MS GAVE IT OUT for free, the mistake is thiers and not ours for taking the offer.
And MS paid 343 already for the work. Developers are NOT losing out any money.
When I noticed that the MS Points were still on my account, I actually went to buy the maps. Good guy me.
DLC should be free as far as im concerned.Still I would much rather have seen this happen to Capcom then 343.

Normals had no rights to specs being issued as time goes, people downloaded knowing full well it wasn’t free, theft.
I’m sorry you have no worldly experince mr…30(sure ya are kiddo). that’s some good stuff.

Halo 4 sold enough copies that there is plenty of money laying around for people to be paid with.
And, if you REALLY wanted to combat Call of Duty, you would make the maps free so everyone, not just people that lay down money, would come back and try them out for awhile.

Im 34 with grey hair son, I WISH I was a kid again then I would not have to pay so much bloody taxes.
Theft by definition is taking something without consent of the owner. MS gave it to us on a plate. We did not steal anything, to claim so proves you know jack squat about sales or the law nor how to actually comprehend the definition of a word.
What did we do? Jack the system to get it? No, we started the game and got a big bloody window telling us to take it, from the very people who made it and own it absolutely gratis. That is not and never will be theft.
End of.
> Teaching you greedy devs that you shouldn’t do DLC basically the month after the game is released…
Yes, though I would prefer “shouldn’t do DLC period”
> and your maps should have been better overall.
Meh I thought the quality of the map pack was pretty high.

This.

That’s some REALLY dumb logic right there dude. You HAVE to be joking.

My point is that this isn’t a struggling company that’s barely staying afloat. They don’t HAVE to do DLC in order to keep the franchise going. They don’t have to sell DLC - they could afford to add maps as time goes on.
I’m not saying I’m angry about it - I bought the map pack. All I’m saying is that it’s stupid to pretend they needed to do the paid DLC to survive.
I absolutely love how they are selling us DLC when most people never even got a specialization code. Completely unacceptable. Do you honestly wonder why your franchise has been withering and dying over the last 2 years? Do you SERIOUSLY not get it yet? Microsoft is scum.
> Teaching you greedy devs that you shouldn’t do DLC basically the month after the game is released… and your maps should have been better overall.
Oh boy, another person who thinks they know the inner workings of the game industry yet they don’t know the difference between a developer, publisher, and distributor.
And yes, lazily assembled DLC is bad and Microsoft is bad.

So the classic scenario of “kid snatches a pie that was left on the windowsill to cool” isn’t theft because the person who made the pie left it out where someone could take it? That is essentially what you are saying here. They didn’t give it to anyone, there’s a glitch that gives non-Pass owners the same benefits as those who actually paid for the Pass, and people are taking advantage of that opening, much as the kids in that fictional scenario took advantage of the baker who left a pie to cool where someone else could take it. It’s still theft, it’s just “easy theft” rather than having to actually hack into the system or take it by force.
As for all the “karma” and “pay back” and “serves 'em right” garbage, has anyone stopped to consider maybe they let out a limited number of freebies as an “apology” for all the glitchiness earlier that prevented LE and MP owners from cashing in what is essentially a preorder slip? Or maybe, just maybe, the same flawed coding that prevented said redemption process was overcompensated in the “fix” code, thus making it free to people who did NOT purchase a Map Pass or Limited Edition? Another possibility for those who share their consoles with others, if anyone else has a Map Pass that was downloaded/redeemed on that console, most likely you will have access to it just as you would have access to any emblems or armor they downloaded. Or another thought: that maybe, just maybe (and I know this is a huge stretch for a lot of people to make with their feeble minds), a system that has ALWAYS had glitches in it just happened to glitch again? I mean come on, glitches are as old as video games and computer systems themselves. Everyone is so quick to blame Microsoft, or blame 343i, or blame whomever else they think should be responsible. It’s foolish if you really stop to think about it. Computers are flawed. They have never been perfect, and never will be. As they say, glitch happens.
As for the debate on whether DLC is even necessary and whatnot, yes, there are some of you that believe a game should come pre-packed with content, and that should be it. No additions, no downloads, no expanded content. It’s been done already. If you don’t care about downloaded content, then don’t bother downloading it. If you don’t want to “miss out” by not having said DLC, go blow the dust off your N64s or Segas and enjoy the all-included-but-overall-limited experience of offline cartridge games. The rest of us happen to enjoy 21st century technology.
On the other end of that, those who whine about the quality of DLC are also the ones who will whine if they have to wait any length of time for said DLC. So unless you want to wait an extra year or so between games for developers to make the game, make (and test) all DLC ahead of time, make all adjustments, line up all possible updates, playlists, etc., and THEN launch the game, I’d suggest you just learn to sit back and let the professionals do their job. If you don’t like it, you are more than welcome to spend YOUR hard-earned money to go to a college that teaches you the necessary skills, and YOU can spend a ridiculously high price for software (3DS Studio Max, last I checked about 2 years ago, cost over $3,500) that actually lets you sharpen those skills, and YOU can live in squalor for months or even years doing thankless freelance rubbish for peanuts, and then YOU can spend your hard-earned money (again) moving to an area that has a gaming studio that is hiring, and then YOU can work your own ungrateful -Yoink- ragged trying to churn out bigger and better games every 2 years (and at least 3 separate but absolutely high-quality DLC bundles for each game) with a half million people -Yoinking!- at you every single day because you’re not doing it fast enough, or to their expectations. Or maybe you can grow up, and shut up. Please.

Umm…
When people load up Halo 4 it essentially says “Click ‘A’ now!!! Go download the new Crimson Map Pack Champ!”
There are literally no other instructions to follow. The only other button you press is ‘A’ again, which is conveniently located on the “Confirm” button.
A better analogy may be if the pie had a sign that said “Lift window sill to receive pie”
