The Free DLC

Ok i know there are threads already, but i wan’t to go ahead and throw my op out there please don’t be rude.

To Begin with i do understand why people got upset about the whole thing i might have too and yes im one of the people that got it for free, however i did not know what was going on until i already downloaded it and came on here and saw all the angry threads.

Everyone knows Microsoft is full of crap when they say this was a promo and i’m sorry 343(if you anyone from 343 even reads this)your just as guilty trying too say it was too.I know there was nothing ever listed on the xbox, mail or on wapoint for that matter about free DLC and for you you to clame there was is just wrong and if there was everyone would have seen or heard about it before now simple as that.

I guess they are going to take the DLC away on the 18th. I really wan’t to know how they think this will make anything right or think they still can gain something from doing this to put it simple…no they won’t gain anything, it would have been better just to give the season pass holders or LE MSP or a award of some sort. i find it funny because really Microsoft and 343 lose ether way,now people know if the maps are good or not and if they don’t like them at all you think they will buy it,no they won’t,some people might but even so you are not going to gain alot of money as you planned or are still planning to get,all they are really going to do is just piss people off and hurt your population by removing them. I do also hope to god if you guys indeed go ahead with doing this you don’t remove it from people that did buy it and they can’t re-download by mistake because if that were too happen expect alot of angry people and i like too see how your going to cover that up i really would because no one will believe a word you guys say, best thing you can do is own up too your mistakes and people will understand everyone messes up at times…so Microsoft please stop acting like you guys never mess up cause your only kidding yourself

Just purchase the map pack before the 18th and it won’t go away - pretty simple.

Obviously MS likes to pretend - they pretend the whole free DLC was intentional; they pretend all the Spec Codes were actually sent out. Let them live in this fantasy world.

I honestly don’t see the issue. The people that got it for free will end up exactly where they started. No maps and no money spent. If they want them then pay for them. Whether it was on purpose or a screw up is irrelevant in the end. Nothing in life is free.

The issue is they’re covering their -Yoink- up by blatantly lying and advertising it as something else.

> Obviously MS likes to pretend - they pretend the whole free DLC was intentional; they pretend all the Spec Codes were actually sent out. Let them live in this fantasy world.

I believe it was 343i who said it was “intentional”, while Xbox Support outright said it was a glitch.

And? In the end how was your life made worse by this?

Not voicing an opinion about shady stuff will make it easier to pull shady stuff.
Accept one lie, and dozens, more effectual will flow in.

People who lie down are the cancer that are killing…everything.

I still fail to see how you were wronged. You got something free either through a glitch in the system or a free trial and have to pay for it later. I paid for it by buying the map pass that was advertised. The ones that paid should be the only ones complaining if everyone else got it free. The ones that paid nothing have lost nothing.

Want the maps? Buy them. Don’t want the maps? Don’t buy them. It’s very simple.

You’re wronged because they’re assuming you’re an idiot who won’t notice they don’t want to admit the all-powerful microsoft -Yoinked!- up.

They initially acknowledged a screw up, and offered the map packs “on them” to whoever could grab them for free.
They changed their position, and now try to chalk it up as part of some trial program, that was previously unannounced until after said glitch, going back on their word.

I have no problem with people accessing stuff because something messed up. I have no problem with them okaying it. I don’t really care, these things happen.

I care about the principal of them blatantly changing positions and not wholly admitting to it.

I care about the principal of NOT treating your community with silence.

So where was this official word that them screwing up means paying customers get screwed? If it’s a tweet from a support person then that’s not an official release. Sorry but it’s not. You can argue that it is until you’re blue in the face but in the end it’s still not official.

I think they screwed up and are covering it up as well and it would have been better to just admit it and pull access to people that got it free right away. Instead they are calling it a free trial and letting said people continue to play them for a week before being reverted back to where they started.

There is absolutely no reason that anyone that didn’t pay should get to keep the content license for said product.

Did I say they get screwed? No. I said, in the most basic form, their integrity is -Yoinked!-. Critical thinking.

Actually it was Microsoft Support (Miss Kleo) that first posted about this promotion/fabrication in the Xbox forums, BSangel and 343i only reposted the same information later as they would be required to tow the company line as Microsoft employeeu. Initially it was reported as a glitch and users would be allowed to keep the DLC as it was an error on Microsoft’s part on the Support Twitter feed, but that story changed the next day and this mystery promotion was announced.

I find it appalling that Microsoft thinks we are that stupid. Whoever is running their PR/damage control needs to be fired for this fabrication and trying to blame the customer for having “invalid e-mails” during the specialization code fiasco (also a bold face lie). I could have cared less if they let the few who got the maps for free keep them or if they locked them out later (though I think that would have been wrong, unethical, and possible illegal - and I am saying that as a War Games pass purchaser) as long as they were honest about their error. They would have gained a lot more respect in the long run. But to insult my intelligence as well as everyone else in the Halo community by trying to claim this was part of the promotion that did not have a name until AFTER this happened and try to make themselves look good is disgusting. But it looks like they are going to stick to the lie and try to bury the truth.

You don’t screw over or lie to your loyal customers or you will find out how fickle that loyalty can be.

I was referring to this.

Where was the official announcement that this is what it was gonna be? Which by doing this would indeed be screwing over the paying customer.

Logical thinking.

Even though I have the LE, and a second season pass, I honestly like that they are doing this and its a good Idea. Now the way it was handled was bs. But would it not be nice with every new dlc to come out, everyone got a two week trail period. I think that would help sell more and I wish this could of been done in prior halo games. Granted I am sucker that gets all the maps but its nice for people who always want to know what they get before they pay. I hope majestic does the same but handled right though.

PS if you are wondering why I have the maps packs twice I still do lan party’s at my house
