The Forge that could've been

In case you didn’t know, Halo 3 forge was supposed to be amazing. Control of A.I., Spawning A.I., Map terrain editor, etc. However, Bungie decided to cut it and make it more ‘basic’ as we now know Halo 3 forge. People who’ve modded Halo 3 can access some of abilities taken from forge. I’m sure you’ve all seen examples such as A.I. and forge balls sputtered around custom maps.

What I’m saying is, 343i don’t do what Bungie did. Make Forge would it could’ve been. What it should’ve been. It doesn’t have to be for Halo 4, but maybe in 5 or 6…

Really? If I remember well, it was more like an last time thing, were a couple of people worked in this, and was a last thing to make it to be included in the game…

Do you have a source for these claims?

For the Halo 3 forge we have now yes. But they had this perfect forge almost made when they scrapped it all. So yes the Forge we know now what last minute put in.

Halo 3 engine…

A specific source. You talked about Halo 3 Mods that have more features than available in Forge, but the nature of a Mod is to enhance in a way that is not normally possible, or even originally programmed in.

If Bungie had a full map editor with the ability to spawn AI, and they had all this working, there would have been no reason to get rid of it, as you claim they did.

If I’m not mistaken, it was supposed to be just a tool to edit weapon placements, and make small changes. It was never supposed to be a map making tool.

I want to see some videos of these mods like the terrain editor. A.I. is hard to code, you can go into many firefight matches and see enemies running into destroyed vehicles, imagine what they’re like when you change the whole terrain around them. They need some kind of paths that don’t make them seem predictable or stupid.

Also there is a difference between employees saying that they want to do something and actually being able to do it.

Personally I love forges simplicity of editing.

I would be disappointing if they made for like Halo Reach but I wouldn’t be that sad if they add things like skin choices for blocks like grass and cement. Why are we even talking about Halo3 having these things? If Bungie had that stuff why didn’t they just implement that into the game, or made Reach with it.

Guys remember that discussing mods and such isn’t allowed so let’s not go down that path, k?
