As you walk down the dark, gloomy halls of a Forerunner construct, you notice the solemn countenance, accompanied by the ghostly hum of unseen miracles happening all around you. The burden that this monument bears is evident, as the long and hallowed hallways give you a lot of time to consider your decisions. You look outside through the large, dramatic windows and see the beautiful rolling hills, mountains and sparse forests. You hear the distant chirping of birds, and immediately the burden of these hallways becomes even more evident. This building was designed like this for a reason. The sterility and coldness of the metal walls and symbols is a chilling reminder of the cost of freedom.
This is how I feel when wandering the Forerunner structures in Halos 1-3. I’m not getting this from the Wraparound map nor the concept art for Halo 4. This is probably intentional, as they have mentioned that this is much more of a “living” structure than past Forerunner constructs.
I do realize that this is a mere cosmetic detail that I have personal attachment to, and that Halo 4 could still be a great game despite this.
