I have to admit, what I have read in some articles scares me a little- I will not judge you (343i) until I see it with my own eyes- but what you have shown in the First Look documentary (also referred as a ViDoc by Josh Holmes so I think we can use that phrase again) was simply amazing.
Graphics: Bright and amazing while still gritty and realistic.
FoV: Much more realistic and immersive than in Reach but not as framed and small as 3.
Weapons: I’m not a BR fanboy but it does look really good, a pistol could be seen as well.
Story: New threat. Thank you for not returning the covies or the Flood as main enemies again and for not revealing the true threat, now I will be completely dark in terms of story!
Maps: Wraparound looks amazing (I expect it to be a fan favorite) and Warhouse has a mech getting built in it’s center ('nuff said).
I trust you fully with the future of Halo, and hope that those perks aren’t what we think they are because that will be dangerous to the series’ core fanbase. I will continue to stay put though, because I love the story
Here’s to being optimistic and forgetting all we’ve said before, community!
All of your points stated above (and more) is exactly what 343i intended on us seeing and smiling. From what we have seen I think Halo 4 looks incredible and I can’t wait for the next information to be released. Yes, there is and always will be a few changes and additions to the game, there has to be otherwise it would not be Halo 4.
People are acting incredibly selfish in the fact that Halo 4 will give them what they wanted, just not all of it because it is literally impossible. 343i and Microsoft have to cater for all audiences and they also have to evolve the game/ franchise, the only way this can be done is by implementing new features such as sprint or a level progression system. It might not be exactly what you want but at the end of the day do you actually think 343i have made a game just to disappoint you? No, they know who they are selling to and they know what the majority of people want: A New Game.
This being said, they also know that there are players who have stuck with the series from CE and desire the classic experience so dearly. All we know at the moment in this aspect is they have given us the BR back, no visible health, unique and specially design multiplayer maps and what ever else you consider enhancing a classic experience. I know that the extra added features such as sprint are not considered ‘classic’ but this is the natural and right way for the game to develop: Classic + Modern = Evolved.
Halo 4 is going to be outstanding. It’s going to offer an experience to every audience and it will also bring all together and hopefully forge a new age of ‘Halo Gameplay’.
