The Flood's imminent return?

Do you think that if the Flood does return in Halo 5, do you think possibly that they evolved to a whole new level?

I think they’ll most definitely be evolved. 343i wouldn’t give us the exact same thing we fought last trilogy as the main enemies again.

I have the suspicion that the flood has been slowly building up its strength on some far off installation, so yes.

Rather arbitrary to assume the flood would evolve randomly from my eyes. It depends on where we encounter them and from the area we can judge.

A)How long they have been there
B)How severe The Infestation is
C)And how infected the locale is

Only then will we be able to judge exactly what is going on.

Hopefully they will appear… I seem to remember a “hint” in the anniversary edition… about 343 Guilty Sparks believing that the main host of the flood are in the “void” between galaxy’s… something about how the halo arrays “death fields” should have overlapped, but dint…

He was wondering how far the affect would have spread if they had more halo’s.

There is no reason to believe that the Flood have “arbitrarily evolved”. Unless they were able to affect another species we are not aware of they will have the same appearance. Of course, 343 will overhaul their graphics…

I’d love to see 343’s take on the Flood as an enemy. I really like the look and feel of the Flood in the gametype.

Its likely there’d be an expansion on the pureform concept.

This is what i was referring to just because they have a True graphical representation does not mean they are any more advanced than the flood we fought before. If we encounter flood specimens and they act wholly or even slightly different than our current incarnation then we can speculate on evolution. This is why the location and circumstances for the encounter are important.

I believe thats true as well, I do expect them to look more menacing and also grotesque. It seems 343i in general likes taking the word Flood literally in some forms from howthe Concepts pre and post Halo 4 of the Flood Infected Spartan IV’s, are based on Crustacean appearances, the type that generally live within very deep offshore waters.

I would say Flood however, can evolve in some ways in their next appearance, but those will be very simple such as their bodies becoming more armored or nimble perhaps. Since its the Flood it will all depend on the host most likely as before, but I do think the Flood Forms in Flood Mode look really well done and accurate for a Infected Spartan form.

I am quite sure there will be more variation for them than there was in Halo 3, even though it had a lot of unique forms :). But in some ways, I wonder if what were going to get in Halo 5 truly will be the Flood or something even more monstrous altogether but I would say alot of people seem curious to see the Flood with the new graphics and based on the Novels its a good direction to head.

The flood Juggernaut better be in.

I’m pretty sure the basic combat forms will be the same, but pure form will definitely be present and probably more “evolved” in a way. I think the infection form might also be different, possibly be faster, slightly stronger, and maybe have a flying variant.

Flying variant, das it maine das it…

I want some creepy out of this world Flood, I never really got that creepy vibe from the previous Flood Forms, so it would be nice to have some adrenaline inducing horrors to face in my opinion.

I do feel since they believe Halo 5’s story and settings will end up darker that something major will happen, and I hope Silentium sheds some nice light on what the Primordial truly meant.

What bothers me is what role will the Didact truly play, and did he indeed Mutate after returning from the Flood Infested system he was abandoned in or is his more grotesque appearance due to something that happened to him before he was retrieved :/. He seemed so desperate to truly find a way to prevent Flood infestation of living tissue, I feel bad for him and his descent into his own madness.

Their return can definitely be speculated.
The Didact afterall, intended to compose humanity in the campaign. His resulting army would of had a purpose…

It would make sense, that he intended to compose all of Humanity and rebuild his forces, and more than just Promethean Knights, who knows what monsters can truly be made with the Composer.

His line, the Forerunners have returned, would mean more to him than to anyone else, he may even believe that he is the only remaining Forerunner period and that the only thing left behind is the Librarians chosen Reclaimers. He would believe the Humans were just attempting to take from the Forerunners achievements and no matter how strong they could become that they would not overrule the Forerunners or win the test the Precursors spoke of, which the Didact definitely would know of.

He believes there is still time it would seem to either stop the test altogether or prepare a much larger Promethean army under his command to face the returning evil, whether it is the Flood or something else entirely.

It would give his appearance, resurrection true meaning, especially if he comes to the conclusion to join us and set aside all his fear and hatred, perhaps that was 343i’s intention with doing the story the way they did.

Or something similar, one thing Halo lacks for the most part are larger scale enemies, right now our largest normal enemy would be the Hunter, and I feel something more threatening should be created to destroy us.

I am not saying Boss enemies, I am saying enemies that take more than the run and gun or sit back strategy to defeat, that are larger and more threatening than your standard enemies. It would simply make John look like even more of a bad -Yoink-, and he has progressively become more of one as the series has went on.

The reason i like the beast is because it generally takes all the ammo of whatever gun you are using to kill it (from what i have seen). People complained about the brutes being “bullet sponges” in Halo 2 But firing an entire clip or two into a brute to have it die right at your feet was exaggerating for me. This is what made fighting them in packs so much fun because each one of them could take a lot of punishment.

In all honesty i was highly disappointed with how weak the flood were made in halo 3 seeing has they should have gotten stronger with time and biomass not weaker.
