The Flood~~

Considering The almost unanimous dissatisfaction with the current state of the Prometheans, and how The Covenant’s art has taken a turn for the worst, not to mention 343’s rendition of “Flood” Spartans in Halo 4- I don’t really think The Flood should make a comeback in Halo 5. I think 343 has enough on their plate, and to be frank I don’t want to see one of my most favorite pieces of Halo ruined. But, I gotta give them credit for The Flood in Halo Wars 2.

No flood is gonna make halo infinite feel stale.Even though promethean aren’t popular you at least had 3 new variations of enemies to fight and they added another for halo 5.I think they’re gonna go all out and add back brutes drones and flood

Id like to see the flood replace promethenas & all will be good. The brutes can tag along with the flood as well.

The flood need to return so they can keep those annoying prometheans occupied while we kick Banished/Covenant -Yoink- or whatever other faction Cortana has …

I mean that’s what the prometheans were made for, why not have flood vs promethean battles in Halo Infinite?? I say every enemy from the previous games should return for an all out epic war; brutes, drones, elites, hunters, grunts, jackals, skirmishers, engineers, sentinels, flood, and prometheans.

As far as I’m concerned, humanity still needs to wipe out the Flood completely. As long as the Flood still exist somewhere in the galaxy (and they currently exist in many locations) no one is safe. I think we deserve to see the Prometheans versus the Flood at some point as well seeing as that’s what Halo 4 told us they were created for.
I just hope if the Flood return in the FPS games they aren’t brought back in a way that makes everything we did in the Halo Trilogy redundant. I’m looking at you Halo Wars 2. >:(

I’m fine with no Flood in Infinite. I really want them to focus on finishing the creation arc with the AI stuff. I don’t want too many different plot points that make it convoluted like H5.

I don’t agree. I think that the game can be perfect without them. I think they should focus on fixing the current crop of enemies, and AI, marines too. Halos 2-Reach didn’t introduce new enemies and they are often regarded as some of the best.
Unless they find some clever way to wrap them into the game, their comeback would be bad.

Except halo 2 introduced brutes, drones, and prophets and halo 3 added scarabs and new flood forms and reach added skirmishers…so yeah

I want the Flood to return. Gravemind made it pretty clear that he will return at the end of Halo 3.

I do too, BUT only if they planned on bringing them in. Even if it means waiting another game. NOT if they give in to all the fans and bring it jn ONLY because they wanted them to return. This feeling is only towards The Flood. Sometimes, catering toooooo much to what the people want makes things go bad. Like how H5’s story sucked compared to H4’s. I know that there were a lot more reasons than just this, but this was definitely one of them. And if Halo Infinite suffers because too many people request too many things, then I wouldn’t be surprised. 343i is already under enough pressure, and I don’t want them to screw this game up like they’ve done to 4/5.

If the flood were introduced back into the series alongside the prometheans, I would like to see some interaction between the two. You try something like The Division did. If the two factions come into close proximity, they engage in a battle. This already happened in Halos 1 through 5, so it isn’t a stretch.

Maybe change how the enemies weight their combat.
For example:

  • UNSC prefer to fight Covenant, - Covenant fight literally anything but the Forerunners unless fired upon, - Forerunners prefer to fight The Flood, - The Flood is focussed on growing their numbers and will attack and infect anything and everything.

But, Thats not how the games have been since CE. thats not how the Flagship titles have EVER been made. So why do it now? When the game is in a recession? How could the story make anysense when suddenly time isn’t a factor? In all the previous games you’re racing towards something (halos 3 n 4 on the warthog runs off the rings.)

Well, I meant to say that they didn’t introduce a new group like The Prometheans for example and they did great. Those new characters were not so new as they were added into existing groups. But they were cool nonetheless. Prophets were more cinematic than anything else and you only really kill one in H2 so does that really count? Skirmishers were just Jackals so that doesnt count.

I don’t agree that without Flood Halo Infinite would be stale, that’s just nonsense. Halo 5 brought in Krackens (however you spell that) and Soldiers, but all in all the entire set of AI was just weak in comparison to previous Halos. If they would make them a real challenge, and worth fighting, maybe reintroducing them again but correctly- I think the game would be stellar. They have enough Factions to deal with, and they can be great if done properly. But with more of The Created expected in H Infinite, I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Flood return, but I would hope they would be introduced with the respect they deserve.

I wouldn’t mind the flood returning but I hope 343 brings either new versions of the flood or changes to the pure forms to add more interesting gameplay. Carrier form and infection form shouldn’t change but maybe more better AI behavior. Human combat forms continue to be weak and Elite combat forms should have energy shields. Pure forms should change to add different combat encounters. Flood using vehicles should return or a flood consume vehicles that the player only option is to destroy. Flood consume vehicles could be used as a soft punishment for players skipping some combat encounters if any levels will be revisited. New flood forms that can fly since the only flying enemy in Halo 4-5 is the watcher. Flood infected birds like Halo Wars 1, infected Drones, or even a large flying carrier form that drops infection forms. Flying carrier could spawn these groups of infection forms and if players are fast enough they could pick off these flying carriers before they can spawn in infection forms.

Maybe even have a boss fight with a proto gravemind, some crazy flood form, or even a flood infected Spartan. The flood infected Spartan could have higher rate of mobility, recharging shields, claw arm (no one hit kill though or halo 2 fast swings), and one handing a weapon (BR most likely) for mid range attacks. Which if Halo Infinite goes back to classic mobility, then fighting a faster enemy could be a fun challenge for players to fight.

Also as a side note, bring back Drones

The Flood certainly need to return; they offer creative freedoms which the other factions lack. I could picture Cortana sending Chief and the Infinity to the Ark after learning about what’s happening there from Anders—simultaneously continuing Cortana’s narrative of wanting to preserve Blue Team while reshaping the galaxy in addition to introducing a multitude of new enemy-types in the process. Throw in some Beyonder/ Secret Wars-esque escapades while the Flood coalesce, and then once everything goes to hell there are limitless possibilities from there.

I’d play that game.
