The Flood should use our gear in new ways.

I think that the Flood should be capable of more than just picking up a gun and using it or jumping in a Warthog and driving around. The Gravemind should be smarter than Human or Covenant weapon and vehicle designers right? It would probably see a Gauss hog and think “hey, that’s cool but it’d be more effective if I gave it spider legs and allow it to walk on walls”. It should be able to come up with ways to improve upon current designs.

They should be able to rip our stuff apart and use the pieces as weapons, armor or anything else they see fit.

It could be like a giant Flood monstrosity with scrap metal for armor and a detached Scorpion turret as a weapon. Imagine it, there will be as many new Flood forms as there are vehicles! And then there could combos of vehicles that get mixed together. I see a lot of potential in this.

There is however the problem that there would be less reward for taking one of these things down because they drop a weapon or allow you to use the vehicle. Still sounds cool to me though.

This would really add to Flood’s assimilation thing they’ve got going on. They don’t just assimilate us and our AI but our weapons too.

I don’t think this is something that has to be Halo 5 but I’d really like to see this kind of stuff at some point in the future.

I’d like this since it would make the flood harder to fight with them using certain vehiclesand would make sense canoically.

> It would add uniqueness to the game, but these problems make it rather difficult to implement. You’d need solutions to them.

I’m going to be a bit glib and say that difficult implementation is simply another term for “worth it.” Though it may be a complete waste of time if it doesn’t work, the magnificent prospect of zombie megazords surely justifies the attempt. Look, if all we added to Halo 5 were the easy features we’d simply have a game separated from Halo 4 by degrees. Radical ideas, requiring extensive problem solving, are the only ways we’ll have noticeable progress and worthwhile creative effort.

That would be quite interesting…to see something inanimate turn “alive”. Would be a wonder to see a Warthog transform into a nightmarish abomination of rotting flesh and machine. A Scorpion with spider like legs protruding from the main core or treads…would essentially look like a scorpion…but fused with rotten flesh…maybe turn the actual Scorpion hull into some sort of carapace. Would add some to the disturbing factor…as it takes damage…it “bleeds” ,flesh starts showing, and you hear it screeching.

I’m more interested to see the combination of various bits of vehicles. We already know how to deal with tanks, but a tank-scarab-warthog hybrid with tentacles, armor, and other bits of biological warfare? There’s new gameplay for you.

I doubt it would work for something like a Warthog but I’m pretty sure a Scarab might eventually become infected since there created by the sames ones that create the Hunter, they were originally supposed to be Immune to the flood so maybe the flood might eventually infect bio-engineered vehicles.

You could say that those hunter-driven vehicles can then serve as the nexus for cruder infusions of the original wormy mass with other bits of technology. Again I think the most promising aspect isn’t just flood vehicles but new ways vehicles can interact with one another.

Well the Hunter’s worms do seem to remind me of the flood because of their design so it does make me wonder about if the flood controlled one but to be fair I’m pretty sure the flood will have already used transports at one point because the gravemind’s were pretty clever and they could control what they do and they have already proven that they can easily take over ships.

This is what I see the Scorpion turning into after being taken over. Just a bit different in design.

lol so what’s you’re saying is if the Scorpion tank was taken over by the flood then it will become a Scorpion transformer.

Haha well not exactly. It could be a lot more fleshy and other things. Could become something a lot different.

I think that the overall design would be somewhat interesting, the tail could be the cannon…

I was actually thinking about posting that with the other reply.

Sounds like it could work, but I’d prefer them just making a new dedicated Flood type…

You can hardly imagine my disappointment when pretty much every Elite in Reach was chucking nades and every Knight in Halo 4 served the same function, more or less.

The Combat Forms could at least have a smaller scale version of vehicle integration.

I really like this idea. Just imagine every now and then running into certain flood types whom you have to kill quickly before they accumulate too much mass by absorbing materials from weapons lying around or broken vehicles. That would be awesome

> It would probably see a Gauss hog and think “hey, that’s cool but it’d be more effective if I gave it spider legs and allow it to walk on walls”.

I’ve been wanting to see something like this since Halo 2. It’d be so cool to see the Flood change shape to incorporate whatever weapon or vehicle they’re using.

I was thinking the same thing about how cool it would be to see Floodified equipment.

> It could be like a giant Flood monstrosity with scrap metal for armor

That specific idea sounds like a little much, in my opinion, but the more general idea of the Flood repurposing enemy technologies is an interesting and plausible one.

I once read about a type of insect whose legs are powered by biological gears – organs and bones that have formed into a gear shape. With that in mind, it wouldn’t be hard to imagine the Flood reconfiguring found weapons (among other things) by merging the weapons into infected bodies, using Flood-spore-based biomass as parts. Why scavenge for replacement firing pins and the like when you can mold things like that out of your (stolen) body?
