The Flood (Revised Edition) [Solved]

So I’ve started reading The Flood and was wondering what the changes were for this book’s re release.
I’ve noticed Yap Yap has turned up but the book originally released before his first game appearance so were these chapters retconned to not just be a random grunt commander and now have it tie in as Yap Yap.

I dunno just curious as others know the cannon better than me. Cheers.

Nevermind it’s a different Yapyap. A dead one, must be a normal Unggoy name.

It’s possible they’re technically the same character. Johnson’s in HW2 as a commander after all.

At the very least the name of the grunt commander is inspired by the one in the Flood. The one in The Flood is also mentioned by the talking grunt in Halo 3, and is the cousin of the grunt in Contact Harvest. So the name Yapyap as a notable grunt is sort of an ongoing thing.

YapYap is like the Steve of Unggoy. Almost everybody knows one by that name.

I honestly couldn’t remember for certain, but a quick google search for “The Grunt from Halo The Flood Book” links to this Halopedia page which lists Yayap, so you are probably correct.

So far it’s really good. It starts a little slow for the first 10-15ish pages but picks up quite quick. The bits with Chief do read like a walkthrough of CE written for an english assignment but the other bits about what else was happening on Installation 04 is quite interesting. Some Covenant insights and what the UNSC were doing while Chief was off doing the main game.

Yup, you’re right just noticed that. I get letters mixed up sometimes.
