I loved it when the flood were first introduced in CE because for the first time you were actually fighting to escape and you were litteraly terrified because you find that they can also use guns! Boom! This easily beats call of duty zombies if it were to be put into a game mode ( not like that other one in 4 ).
Seriously though, if the flood comes back then my heart is going to stop countless times when I play halo 5. I want it to be in the story and matchmaking. Like when you select firefight online/offline you should have an option to turn on flood or flood only.
Maybe in the flood gamemode if you don’t kill the flood quickly then they start to build ‘nests’ and it can slowly create armies of the flood, also 343 should have some new transformations and animations and I expect some really scary skins and textures.
Tell me how you think the story could play out if the flood returned, also what would happen if a promethean was fighting the flood?

lol i’m just commenting on this to be your Thread C-C-C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER!
Really you had 3 of your threads, all in a single line. Amazing.
Edit 1 : MY EFFORTS WERE IN VEIN ANOTHER 3 LINED UP! GTG
Edit 2 : ok now that that is done, the Flood was never dead. If anything all MC has done is make them stronger by handicapping the Ark’s ability to fire all Rings.
Since Gravemind is probably millions of years old, this all just played into his plans. For all we know he could of saved the data off all the other Halo Rings from the Ark and using the info to travel to them and secure the locations. While freeing his dormant Flood brothers. With the power of the rings in check. He could be virtually unstoppable.
The Flood are supposed to return according to The Gravemind in Silentium.
According to the Gravemind, The Flood are to return in force 100000 years after the First Forerunner flood war (When the Human’s have massive ego’s and are the “Big boys” as Laskey says.). That 100000 years is somewhere around the End of Halo 4 and Halo 5 Guardians.
Maybe Guardians is a hint towards the Chief, Locke, Arby and the Didact having to team up and fight the Flood and save the galaxy, again?

I keep hearing this LEsser ark talk.
There were only 2 Ark’s made, The Greater Ark (The one destroyed in Silentium)
and the Lesser Ark (The One I believe we were on in Halo 3) And if I remember correctly, the Lesser Ark exploded.

This is from the Nothing But Unbiased Facts.
Mendicant Bias is the machine coming out of the sand.
A Forerunner Seeker or War Sphynx is coming out of the sand.
The location is The Ark, greater or smaller ark? Thx to M0aHerder The Greater Ark was destroyed before the rings were fired. The Lesser Ark, however, is only damaged and there are still habitable sections.

Yeah we never see the Lesser Ark’s actual destruction. We only have guilty spark’s comment (with compartmentalization he might not know much about what the ark can take) and cortana’s line about doing a number to it. Outside the game its heavily implied that while damaged the lesser ark does still exist.

We had 5 games with Covenant and 3 games with Flood, really don’t see why the covenant would need to return than according to that statement.

Care to explain where you got that information from?
Because that sounds more like a rumor more than an unbiased fact.
For those who haven’t read Halo Escalation Issue 6:
Last panel shows there is flood aboard the UNSC Spirit of FireAside from that the Flood ran away after the first Flood-Human war and could have possibly infected other galaxies (which are outside of the range of the Halo Array) during the Forerunner-Human wars.
“Humans will rise again in arrogance and defiance. The Flood will return when they are ripe -and bring them unity.” “In a hundred and one thousand centuries … unity again, and wisdom. Until then -sweetness.”
I wouldn’t mind if the flood returned, but I don’t want them to just come back because SoF brought them back or some other reason like that. Annihilating the flood off the SoF probably wouldn’t be all that difficult in the first place considering they had 3 Spartans who were experienced fighting them and they were on a ship that functioned perfectly minus its FTL drive so they probably could have just sealed it before it spread plus there’s be no unified mind unless they managed to infect a significant number of the personnel which, like I said, could be handled by just sealing the bulkheads. Also I want the SoF to return and not have everybody dead so we can hear their story and stuff (highly personal for me I know).
Really though I’d like the precursors to get involved. Halo has so many factions right now I really think 343 would be limiting themselves if they made the flood the main focus. That being said, I wouldn’t mind if they returned as an enemy.

Lame…
Covenant should return just for the awesomeness that is the needler, but they’re a bit tired too. Especially when we get chief calling them “more fanatical” in h4 with absolutely no indication that they are.
Its obvious, but if done well the flood and covenant would be perfectly acceptable enemies. But the writing in h4 is beyond horrible and does not bode well for the return of classic enemies in need of real innovation to be compelling.
