The Flood in MP/Firefight

This is something I’ve asked for since shortly after the release of Halo 3. I’ve gotten a lot of positive responses out of this suggestion, and I still think it would be awesome.

Since Halo 4 is a whole new game, I would absolutely LOVE to see an Infection gametype that allows the players to play as The Flood character models. I really think it would add to the effect of the whole “Infection” thing.

Think about how nasty it would be to be holding off a massive amount of The Flood, all being played by other people online. Instead of a “Zombie” color like Halo 3 had, let us use a Flood model.

Generally, “Zombies” have no shields anyway, so I don’t see how it could effect gameplay, besides having to get used to shooting a different hit box. If you’ve played the Halo Campaigns, you know how to kill Flood, so it shouldn’t be a problem.

What does everyone think of this idea? I’d REALLY like to see this put into action.

DEFINITELY a good idea! I actually never would’ve thought of that!

It seems like such an obvious thing, but nobody seems to bring it up. Not to mention playing as The Flood would be cool. Maybe add in assassinations that are exclusive to The Flood. Think about how nasty those would look.

I like it. But which flood form are you thinking? I was thinking infection form. Were you thinking combat form? And if it was infection form, then the game would have to be shifted to include a much larger zombie start population.

It would have to be a marine that has been taken over by The Flood so that it keeps players the same size, and keeps everything fair. Also, it would be simpler to render and code (I assume).

I really hope 343 takes a look at this and really considers it.

It would be interesting to play as an infection form, but that might over complicate things, so your idea is probably the more practical in this case. But yeah I really hope they consider it too, because this is an excellent idea!

I think something like this would have to have it’s own gameplay mode, possibly in a different type of game (say a SW Battlefront type game) but that may just be because I looked at your post, thought it was cool, then blew it way out of proportion with my own crazy ideas. Imagine starting as an infection form and going and infecting another player, taking over their body and becoming a combat form. Then as you collect biomass you could eventually become a pure form.

That’s a possibility, but like you said, it would have to be an entirely different game mode, rather than just playing as a Flood character model in Infection games.

There doesn’t have to be an animation for the Flood taking over someone, because for one thing, you’d be too busy trying to get other kills to even want to wait for your character to take over someone. Also, it makes it less of a problem to put them in if it’s simply the character rather than a whole new game mode.

If it were to be a new game mode, the Battlefront idea is a good one. I played Battlefront for hours and hours back in the day. It could also be like Horde mode in Gears of War. They now have a mode where you can play as the Locust and attack the COG.

Or, they could do it in a Dead Space style and have different types of Flood, and allow you to play as larger Flood forms based on how well you do during the game.

That’s only if there were to be another game mode, though, of course.

So basically the flood model becomes what the elite model is in Reach.

Me want.

great idea i really want this know to be in halo 4 because infection in reach isnt as fun as it used to be.

great idea

i made a thread like this a long time ago, it never got off the ground.

i want me some flood infection!

Let’s keep this thread alive, and maybe it can get some attention.

That’s exactly what happens, and that’s a much simpler description of what I’m trying to say. =P

Always wondered what a Spartan combat form would look like, this would be awesome. I’d love to jump 40 feet in the air and claw the -Yoink- out of other players. Yes.

Yeah, you could have flood skins for infection, or flood firefight…or both with firefight vs. where flood players are bosses or something…

As long as we keep it this simple, it could be fairly easily achieved. It would also make infection a lot more suspenseful, intense and exciting.

It would be an interesting thing to investigate but the game type would have to take a lot of work. With flood forms in the halos being very week except the larger pure forms which are extremely more powerful than spartans. So flood forms would have to e drastically changed and balanced according to there spartan counterparts. Also with halo 4 we are no longer fighting the covenant and we don’t even know if there will be flood in the game. 343 is taking the storing line in a whole knew direction. Also with the multiplier, it would have to reflect the current story line and characters in the campaign like all of the other halo games. All the games so far have followed the story line of where it is. the maps are based of of campaign story and so are the gametypes for the most part. Such as invasion, I personally love the game and would love to see it come back in halo 4 but how much sense would it make. Having elites running around when they are no where to be seen in the campaign (as far as we know). Having non fitting characters and story in the multiplayer doesn’t make sense. So with that it is up to 343 to decide what they do.
