The flood in Halo Infinite

This is a provable theory
Halo: Combat Evolved- PoA reactor detonation eliminates flood released on Installation 04, eliminates Proto-Gravemind and flood,
Halo: 3- Installation 04-B Partially constructed and activated, killing flood hosts and flood.
These are how Chief killed the flood from installation-04 and 05, Infinite could have the covenant release more flood, in 4, the covenant arrive with their ‘God’ the Didact on 03, the flood wasn’t released due to commands from the Didact. Since the Didact is dead, They have no way of getting orders not to release the parasite on 07.
Thoughts? Happy to hear them!

Outside of certain Covenant sects like the Governors of Contrition, most Covenant know the Flood is a horrible, horrible thing and would go out of their way NOT to release it, given what happens. Even the Covenant Remnant at this point would know better than to mess with the Flood on any future Installations.

Not to mention the Halo Rings are/were being sought out by the UNSC and in the process of having the Flood properly sterilized from the Rings before decommissioning them (aka taking them apart for tech and to remove the threat of one being used as a weapon). The UNSC has been to both Installation 03 and Installation 07. They actually sterilized 07 with the help of the Arbiter’s Elite faction.

I very much doubt the UNSC is foolish enough to try and take apart a Halo Installation when they barely understand what in the heck they are doing with there new fancy Forerunner tech as in the case of the UNSC INFINITY. Someone thought it was a great idea to bolt a Forerunner engine on there most advanced warship and that eventually led to laughable moment of losing power over Requiem.

I am betting the most anyone in the UNSC knows about the Halo Array is its a galactic superweapon, however that is only half of there total function thanks to the efforts of the Librarian and Lifeworkers. Besides wiping out life, the Halo Installations are also meant to serve as a type of shelter for indexed species as is the way case with the various creatures that call a Halo Installation its home.

Halo Wars 2 Awakening the Nightmare basically retcons Installation 08/04b firing as the Flood managed to survive in the contained ruins of High Charity until the Banished accidentally released them. Because of this particular addition to the lore, I’d argue the firing of Installation 04b was only able to achieve half of what was initially intended by killing only the Flood on itself before breaking apart.

In regards to the Flood returning in Halo Infinite, it is very doubtful and even more so to think any of the remaining Covenant Remanants would be the ones respsonsible. Unlike the UNSC who keeps the majority of its populace in the dark, the Covenant understand the threat the Flood pose to life itself and even if they hate humanity. I doubt they’d want to doom the galaxy in there crusade as the Flood infects everything.

Well, you can blame that on Halo 4’s writing. Lasky clearly states that Infinity’s mission (at the time) was to find the remaining Halo Rings, study them and prepare them for decommissioning.

Despite my personal missgivings with the Reclaimer Sagas writing, the preparing them for decommissioning can mean anything. For example if a reclaimer is able to successfully obtain the Activation Index and remove it from the Halo Installation as is the case with Installation 03. The Halo Installation is now technically decommissioned seeing as how without the Activation Index, the Halo Installation can’t be fired.

The only other way for the Halo Array to fire now is by traveling to Installation 00 and before the Uprising of the Created. It was firmly secured in the hands of the UNSC and now is being contested between the Spirit of Fire’s crew and the Banished. Either way until one side wins, the Halo Array is still “decommissioned” as without a Reclaimer, no one is going to be light the entire Halo Array.

In the event the UNSC really wanted to decommission a Halo Installation. They might as well just blow up the Installation so that it doesn’t pose a threat to life as the eventual replacement will be made at Installation 00 and the UNSC could manage or continue destroying them in one location instead of scouring the galaxy for the remaining Halo Installations.

From the trailer I could see the Flood coming back, but it would either be due to the damage on the ring (a whole section missing could release them from their prison), or an intentional release from one of the AI infested with the logic plague. As mentioned the Covenant (remnants) would be too afraid of the flood to intentionally release it.

I would like to point out the fact that the only way this could be possible is accidental by covenant, scientists (the monitors could have upgraded software) or a dumb grunt named yapyap who thought he was a warrior that could fight off the flood

After 2 Flood outbreaks (at installation 04 and 05) and under Cortana’s Guardians protection I don’t think Covenant will go to facilities (only Brutes maybe xD). By now everyone know for parasite and that there are facilities on the rings. At the moment (in Halo universe) there is Flood outbreak on The Ark where they consume Spirit of Fire’s crew and Banished faction. Only “bad” thing is that parasite can’t leave Ark and get to Installation 07 even if they get to Spirit of Fire beacuse it doesn’t have slipspace reactor.

The real danger of the Flood on the Lesser Ark is in the likely event the Flood manages to spread beyond containment. The irrepairable damage they can inflict on the Halo Array simply by destroying the Forge in the center would certainly doom the galaxy as once the Flood spreads beyond the control of the current galactic powers. There is little hope of actually stopping the Flood.

The Milky Way Galaxy is massive and so far in the games, we’ve been bound to the Orion Arm of the galaxy and as we know with the Forerunner-Flood War there exists at least three million worlds for the Flood to potentially turn into biomass. Then we have to realize the Flood will most likely destroy the Lesser Ark once they escape containment simply to get rid of the threat is poses to there existence.
