The flood could still be alive!!

As they flew into the Portal at the end of Halo 3, Halo activated, killing the Gravemind and wiping out all surviving Flood on the Ark and on Installation 04B.
At least for the moment, the Flood were seemingly defeated. However, the reason that the Forerunners preserved some of the Flood for research on the Halo rings instead of destroying them all was because they knew that the Flood would return sooner or later, and it would be better to fight a researched enemy rather than a foreign one. After the Flood’s defeat, SPARTAN-IVs were deployed to Installation 03 to hunt out possible Flood infestations. Aboard Infinity, Spartans did War Game simulations of Flood scenarios, including fighting in entire cities that had been infested by the Flood.

And based on its track record the flood is and must be still alive the probability far out weighs the likelihood of total annihilation.

The Flood originated from outside of our Galaxy, thus leading to the conclusion that even if they have been wiped from our galaxy, it is unlikely that they have been wiped from existence. That was the reason why the Forerunners kept specimens for testing on the Halo Instillations. Aside from the Halo Instillations there are no Flood in our Galaxy.

Screw the Flood. I want something new to fight. Same goes for the Covenant.

Yes, as 05 was glassed by the Arbiter if I remember correctly, and the Arc (Ill count it as in because portal.) was revisted by a UNSC ship that didnt get infected, and the flood was about they would have gone for them.

There is flood in the galaxy, aboard the lost UNSC Spirit of Fire

There are many Forerunner sites across the galaxy that still hold Flood Samples. There may even be some in the state of Installation 05 before it was glassed. Who knows? Especially now with the Flood infested Spirit of Fire crashing into a planet.

The Flood never entirely died.

The flood are still alive, they are shown on the spirit of fire at the end of an escalation comic.

They are also undoubtedly somewhere else in the galaxy as well. Who knows how many shield worlds they are on, and the fact they’re most likely on other halo rings.

Already confirmed in the Escalation comics. The Flood will be back, as they are the actual endgame that humanity must face before they can ascend to take the Mantle.

I haven’t read the comics but I’m gonna believe what the others say. And the Flood visor says that it’s used to fight them so I’d assume that’s a real possibility.

The flood were made to remove the Forerunners from the mantle of responsibility. As the final test to ascend Humanity must beat them

Didn’t inatallation 07 hold some double digit numbers of graveminds? Whose fate is unknown? During the Flood - Forerunner war.

Unless the Forerunners removed the graveminds or UNSC found it and blew it to kingdom come, then there should be flood there as well.

As others also stated, SoF had a flood spore present, and probably more as the ship is evacuated.

Ugh.

Might as well just make a different game, then.

the flood is always alive… no flood no halo

Along with the fact that they reproduce just about as quickly as we do make them quite a menacing threat.

That’s what Gravemind wants, ultimately. But there’s no way that 343 would let their franchise end on such a dark note haha. Though… If they had the balls to do so, I would totally be on board.

I would expand this past the halo array. The shield world in Halo Wars had a flood infestation, as well as the gas giant (blanking on the name) that was next to alpha halo. Forerunner installations in general have a possibility of containing the flood. It is also likely that there are planets that have been taken over by the flood before the firing of the halo array, which have dormant flood colonies.
