The Flood and a Intergalactic Allience

I was watching Halo Legends: Origins part 2 and i found the last part about what brings two fractions in a alliance, that is a concept of a common foe, for humanity the Covenant made the whole of humanity put aside their differences and politics (the UNSC and Insurrectionists) to fight the common enemy which were the Covenant. and as Origins explains further, the resurgence of the Flood, an enemy so evil and ancient that it had to be stopped and made made humanity and the Covernant join sides to defeat the new common enemy.
While in reality (halo2/3) this was only a temporary one and with a Sangheili fraction. I think this is what 343i is building up to. There seems to be hints of the UNSC and the former Covernant species making a alliance with each other but it seems to fail, mostly due to conflict within certain fractions and secret actions by fractions (e.g. ONI), however we know that if the Flood were to make anouther resurgence, we know that the fractions of the galaxy cannot contain the threat on their own, my guess is when the flood returns, it will force humanity, Sangheili, the Jiralhanae and other sentient races into a Alliance to contain the flood.
Do you guys believe that 343 are building up to a climax that might involve the races of the galaxy allying with each other to stop a greater threat should it be the Flood.
EDIT: forgive me if this doesn’t make sense, i was too excited to write this and i wrote this very late at night in the UK.

I wouldn’t mind collaborating with “enemies” for a level or two. It makes me remember the level “343 Guilty Spark”. The first time I played this level, I tried to save those little Grunts from the Flood, and I couldn’t understand why they would continue to fight me in such a situation.

I think it is far too soon to reintroduce the flood as a major plot point. They were hardly able to handle a minor [albeit unintelligent] spread when the factions had a significant military potential. Now the Flood (if actually presented as their canonical might) would wipe through the galaxy no issue without some incredibly lame plot shield or underplaying the Flood once again.

The’d best focus on Didact and post-war factions for atleast 20 years in-universe before having the Flood return, or it will be stupendously lack luster.

i see what you mean, i do not want them to be the main enemy just yet, i just believe that in the far future (maybe after Halo 6) they can build up the flood as a main enemy, however if it seems quite lackluster then i don’t mind if they don’t do it.

Well, it’s still pretty much open for the Flood to return. We know they are aboard the Spirit of Fire, for example. Or 343 could make up a whole plot about a rogue Covenant faction attacking a Halo and trying to use the parasite as a bioweapon, or some other nonsense. I’m not saying it’s a good plot, I think it sounds terrible, but it’s very 343-ish in nature, judging by some of the last Halo stories.

I have no problem with the Flood returning, but I have serious doubts about the viability of such a plot point this soon. The Flood were “defeated” at the end of Halo 3, and we have a newly reformed Covenant force to concern ourselves with, in addition to Forerunner enemies. Four factions (three, really, if the Covenant and Prometheans continue their alliance) might be a little much, even if it would make for a good narrative arc under the right circumstances.

I think it’s more likely to be Humans & the Arbiter’s Elites, along with Mendicant Bias and maybe any existing Forerunners Vs. the Flodd/ any ‘normal’ Precursors that may show up.

Also, where’s the ‘Inter-galactic’ part of this??..I think you may have used the wrong word here OP.

…So you’re saying that the possibility of the Flood having infected the crew of the Spirit of Fire, and specimens left on the remainng Halo rings (including actual Graveminds on Installation 07), don’t make a viable plot point?..how?!

Also one crazed Forerunner who may or may not be dead, and his army of Prometheans that can presumably be controlled by any other Forerunner like the Librarian did. If the Iso-Didact somehow still lives, the Ur-Didact and the Promethean threat are nullified.

We have no idea if the Graveminds on 07 are still active (it’s been 100,000 years) and the Didact’s composition has been confirmed.
