The first step on the road of Pay to Win

Month of Mythic. This is not the first step, I lied. It’s the second step. You were warned beloved community. You were warned. Now the slippery slope of microtransactions is beginning to reveal itself, but it still seems insignificant. After all, what will this do to change the game? Very little, but what comes next? Another small annoyance, another insignificant change. Until, a few more steps down the road, the changes add up. This is a pot of water, set to warm ever so slowly, until one day… One day you realize, it’s boiling. Unfortunately, that is also the day when you realize that it’s far too late.

I updated my argument a bit on page 2

I have faith that something like this will never happen again.

And what if it does happen again Klaka?

Klaka is the Sangheili word for human if you didn’t know.

The whole frog in a pot of slowly boiling water things is a misnomer by the way.

That is what they said when the REQs first began. I’ve seen this kind of thing before, this is only the beginning. Also, Money is the catalyst that will continue the slide.

Then I will be proven incorrect, sangheili.

With the backlash, there’s a high chance it won’t happen again. Even halo follower spoke out against it.

The salt is real… don’t like the rec system play arena.

Don’t like the microtransactions play arena. The req system is in no matter what mode you play. It’s the unlock system, and it can’t be avoided unless you don’t want to unlock anything.

Damn, clicked on link for demonstration. Frog jumping out of boiling water, then seeing what happens if you slowly try to boil it.

So? You still don’t have to buy them with money. There are these things called req points. You earn them after each game. So exactly how are you FORCED to buy them with money?

Are you quoting the wrong person or did you just misinterpret what I said? I was just correcting you, because the unlock system can’t be avoided. The microtransactions can be easily avoided. I never said you’re forced to buy them with real money.

You can’t always get what you want, but if you try sometimes…

Lol. You hear about Gears DLC system? Maps will be placed on a rotating playlist, making the season pass optional? You get boosts and other stuff for buying the season pass, aside from owning the maps/being able to play them whenever you want. Guess they will sell skins and such as usual, but thought was cool.

Soooooo are you calling us frogs?

I don’t see how this month of Mythic is effecting my gameplay, even though I haven’t bought a pack.

It doesn’t effect arena play in the slightest, and I haven’t seen it improve players performance in Warzone in the slightest. Pay to win has to give a player a advantage over the average player. And I’m not seeing it at all. So I see the occasional Prophets Bane more then average. But it doesn’t do them much good when I nail them with a scattershot.

There are many games out there that are true examples of pay to win. For example Warhammer 40k: Eternal Crusade actually has weapons that are far superior to their base models that are only available with the purchase of real money, and this is a game you have to pay $40 - $60 to play to begin with. This is an example of real pay to win.

But Halo 5? I’m not seeing it.

The amount of money it raised for HCS suggests otherwise. People ate REQ packs up at launch.

Who cares about what Halo Follower thinks?

343’s last chance: Halo 6. If they make a mess with that I’ll sadly leave my favourite game franchise for good.

343 you’re just good to ruin.

-yoink- those microtransations.
