Who else here thinks that the first cutscene of H4 should have the last cutscene of H3? Mainly starting with the Warthog jump into the Dawn. All of this would be remade in Halo 4 graphics (John would still be wearing Mark VI.) The next scene would be the Heroic ending with it ending in black screen. Then words pop up saying something like “3 years later” and then John wakes up out of cryo.

I dont think they can do that. If you didn’t know anything about Halo then it would be confusing. Starting with the MC frozen in a cryotube in the wreckage of the Dawn has to be the start, despite not explaining the situation. At least that way it is a clean start and new Halo players will be able to infer that it is the continuation of another story.
I really liked the Cortana narrative in Halo 3’s opening cutscene.
Maybe some type of flashback with Cortana narrating would be interesting–similar to Origins.

Well then again this is the first game in a new trilogy so a connection like that would be good.

I think the first cutscene should show John dreaming about his past while he’s in Cryo. Showing how he became a Spartan and showing a brief overview of the Halo trilogy. Maybe Cortana could narrate it (Like Halo Legends: Origins). Maybe show what Cortana’s been doing for the last 4+ years while John was in Cryo.
I think it’s a great idea. 343 H ave already said “if Halo 4 is your first Halo experience, don’t sweat it” (or something like that). So I think they will recap somewhat on the story.

Joke: Latter half of the FuTD is shown from afar; a flaming mass crashes into what I believe is Onyx. (Much like the opening of Halo 3)
I just think that there needs to be a small recap. I find this a lot better than starting up the campaign and John wakes up. I’d prefer a little backstory, even though we already know it.
They should do an optional recap vid like GoW3.
The tutorial level should be in the form of a dream while chief is in cryo.
I imagine that the other spartans will have a role going forward in the series, and what better way to introduce them than a dream flashback? Imagine it’s basically the scene from TFOR where the spartans first get their MK IV. Since Halsey would also be in the scene, it would let players know the connection she has with John. This would obviously be done because we have to cater to the most common player ie those who haven’t read any of the books. And it makes sense to be the tutorial level because chief himself is trying on mjolnir for the first time, testing it out, learning to move in it. It would also be a great way to highlight all the intricate details they’ve put into the armor as far as functionality is concerned. Yes I realize that when this takes place he’s wearing MK IV and when he wakes up he’s wearing Mk VI, but I for the sake of gameplay there’s really no reason for them not to function virtually identically.
They’d have to get a younger person to voice “young” John though, since he’s only what…14? When that happens. Though he had the body of 20 year old athlete or whatever.
Perhaps another scene featuring Fred Linda and Kelly more specifically.
And when the dream ends, he wakes up to Cortana eagerly waking him.

I think there is a slight need to recap, not because we are all forgetful or anything but because it will have been 5 years between Halo 3 and Halo 4.

Lol, are you kidding? They never said that. If anything they have said they want EVERYTHING from the past present and future to feed into Halo 4. From books, comics, games, WHATEVER.
They have also said that you wont need to have read the books to understand what’s going on, so if people like Halsey and blue team and so on really are going to have a role going forward into Halo 4, they will def have some explaining to do in game.
It would seem really tacked on and jumpy. I think it’s best and most stylistic to have Master Chief wake up at the very start.
That’d be amazing if you had to replay all of the last mission at the start but only if they don’t get lazy and count that as one whole mission while not making up for it with another long mission.
I’d love if they did that and remade all the end cut scenes in the new graphics and all that.
