Back when we first saw pictures of Alpha Halo in CE people asked why the Halo had fins along the underside.
Frankie stated in a bulitin that the fins where added because they are important to the Greg Bear novel Primordium.
I have read Primordium and don’t remember reading anything about the fins.
Did I miss somthing?
No idea, maybe some architectural thing that deals with the new trilogy?
There were multiple instances in primordium where sections of the halo were removed, moved to other spots, replaced, etc.
I expect the fins are so the sections can move around.
Though it might also be so the entire ring in general has maneuvering capabilities. Like you know, the part of the book where they’re trying to save the ring.
