The final game played under Bungie

http://halo.bungie.net/stats/reach/gamestats.aspx

This was the final Halo Reach Matchmade game before 343 took over Halo. A moment of silence…

Okay so let’s discuss this historical game!
It was a game called Hog Potato played on forge world. I don’t even remember what Hog Potato was like. Does anyone else know what that game type was like?

Most of the details of the game have been “purged” what’s up with that?

Anyone recognize any of the player gamer tags?

Anyone actually one of the players that participated in this historical game?

Interesting… I might have that game type too. I tried to archive every game type and map variant that ever appeared in matchmaking back in the day. I’ll see if I have that one tomorrow.

EDIT: I have Hog-Potato. It uses a worthog as the oddball and blows up periodically like Hot Potato. It’s in the “Insane” game type category. It works on an updated Hemorrhage map. I’ll put it in my file share and leave it there for a few days. GT: Larry Tanng

Hog potato was awesome…I played a few games of it and I may be wrong, but as I recall it was like a mix of Mario kart(rhr) and hot potato. Basically someone on your team would pick up the bomb that spawned at a few various points on hemmorrage and you’d drive around and try to evade the other rocket hogs trying to kill you. It was a ton of fun and nothing like you can find in today’s 343-controlled matchmaking. Yet another reason why I’d love for bad playlists like invasion, btb, and griffball to be removed in favor of far more enjoyable game types such as this.

The finer details of the game history were deleted about a month or so ago. There was an announcement back on back on June 21, 2018 by Bungie that explained what was being deleted.

wow cool! I never got to play that variation. Interesting that I am still learning new things about halo reach even this long after it’s release!

Do you have the old custom games maps as well? Such as “Super Happy Slide” and several other favorites that I cant name right now. I’m trying to find all the old custom game maps I use to play.

A lot of gametypes can be found with a research, with Bungie as author.

Hog-Potato is likely okay with any map allowing vehicles (but not other maps) , it’s just an Oddball variant with a “Warthog Bomb” option as special trait (the “ball” is a Warthog, it’s not a Warthog with oddball_ball) .

Note that the variant can’t work properly with the Warthog bomb enabled but not the hot potato.

I didn’t save too many custom maps though I wish I had. About 99% of my maps were either pulled from matchmaking or I made them myself. I’d like to search for some old custom underground maps though sometime.
