The final challenge has to get better

It is the only conclusion I reach, after playing multiplayer for more than a month and having won 3 of the 5 weekly prizes, I am 100% convinced that the final challenge is completely unnecessary…

It is no longer just a matter of always being against the clock for a week to try to complete all the challenges, but on top of that when I arrive I have to be lucky that the weekly challenge is not crazy like winning 17 games.

I am a man with work and obligations. I try to play every week to get the weekly prize because I like to collect objects in the game and they are also one of the few things that they give us “for free”. But it is simply impossible for me due to lack of time to complete the final challenge.

I already lost the nameplate with that wonderful final challenge of winning 17 games, and today I am going to lose the weekly prize by having to win 5 games in ranked. He does not give me the life or the time to achieve it. And I find it very frustrating to have spent the entire week completing the challenges, ignoring other games for spending my little free time on Halo, for the final I did not get the prize. Without adding the challenge changers that I have used.

Completing all the weekly challenges should earn you the weekly prize. Or at least give you a chance to replace the final challenge of the week. It is an artificial barrier that is useless, only to annoy.

Edit:

I am going to add a comment to try to contribute an idea instead of being just a post complaining.

The main problem here is the FOMO system that causes players to see this more as a job than something we do for fun, almost everyone who is interested in collecting the cosmetics available for free will want to complete all the weekly challenges. . But the time limit is the biggest drawback and a problem that will burn players in the long run

The solution I see is to adopt examples from other games as services where they do the permanent weekly challenges. Weeks associated with a season that last for the entire season and are unlocked each week.

So in the example of Halo we would have each week that it has arrived available to be able to complete whenever we want without having a FOMO system behind. We would have to have a week activated to be able to unlock it but this would give us the freedom to focus our efforts on the weeks that interest us, if the first week we do not like the prize, we can focus on the second week when it is unlocked. This way we avoid losing weekly objects and the challenges of winning 17 games and other examples do not become almost impossible to obtain due to a simple lack of time.

You can go deeper into how to put this idea, but the main problem is to eliminate the existing FOMO system. And this should have long since been phased out as 343i promised they would never have anything like it.

Bro they can’t just bastardise their rank system because some don’t have the time. Sorry to sound harsh. The challenges are easy enough as it is. It defeats the purpose of getting this exclusive item if it’s super easy to get.

Play 2 Tactical Slayer Games
Get 10 Commando kills

Come on those types of challenges can be finished in 1 or 2 evenings. I find myself sitting for days with no challenges left. I’m an adult in my thirties with a full-time job too.

And why the hell not do some balanced weekly challenges that are affordable but difficult - what need is there for a final challenge?

Explain to me why the existence of that final challenge is important and necessary.

To be blunt I’d be fine with them ‘butchering’ their current rank system because the entire system is awful. I wouldn’t say there easy since I don’t know all the challenges for weeklies since it’s not as clear as MCC since that actually lists them out instead of blocking access to seeing them in Infinite. :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

I already find the battle pass system tedious as it is so it’s hard to convince myself to do them due to the weekly challenges when there’s no way to tell how many challenges I need to burn through.

What do you mean by balanced challenges though?

Winning 5 ranked games is a completely reasonable challenge. It doesn’t force anyone to die over and over to get specific weapon kills nor does it force people to quit certain modes. It’s as fair as it gets.

I’m not talking about the battlepass system. They can’t make the challenges much easier than they already are.

If they went for the Play 5 games or Get 10 Headshots type of challenges then nobody would pay attention to them. You’d get them just by playing normally. This would be defeating the purpose of having challenges in the game.

The final challenge is there to weed out the chaff. Sorry but realistically that’s why it’s there.

In other words, there is no real reason for the existence of this challenge beyond feeding egos. Truth?

And I still do not understand exactly why the challenges, being the only system to raise the pass and get free cosmetics, have to be of a high difficulty level as you are suggesting between the lines.

That is the point of having in-game items locked behind challenges. Nobody will care enough to ever equip it if it was so easy to unlock that everyone has it.

The big problem is how they’ve structured their weekly challenges. If they gave you all weekly challenges at once you would get them done in like 10 games. They don’t want that. They are artificially stretching out play time which is one of the pillars of the game that they said they DIDN’T want to do. It feels bad because it is bad.

Maybe it’s just that it’s not the game for me, but after a month I’m not interested in the game anymore. I see the horrible challenges like “win 5 games of ranked oddball” and I just say no thanks and close the game. Grinding one challenge only to get the exact same one but instead of 3 games it’s 5 game does not feel good. Severe lack of variety, not only in playlists but in moment to moment gameplay, is not fun. There is very little depth to the experience.

That is a totally selfish thought and absolutely far from reality, people wear cosmetics because they like it and that’s it. If there are people who like to feed their personal ego it is their problem but it is not an excuse or reason to support this type of thing.

It’s not far from reality at all. For normal progression based cosmetics people do equip the ones they like, sure.

For ones that are tied to challenges people will equip them to show that they pulled it off. If everybody has it those people have nothing to show off.

People in Halo 3 weren’t obsessed with Recon because it was particularly attractive or looked special at all. It was an exclusive item that was very hard to unlock.

I don’t want to defend the system as it is rubbish and impossible to defend. However making challenges too easy dilutes the rewards and thus nobody cares anymore.

Those types of challenges are very unpleasant I agree. I don’t like those either. If they do decide to remove those types of challenges the replacements need to be equally as difficult but in a less rng based way.

I skip those challenges. Not worth the hassle.

I do not agree with you at all. Weekly challenges should be obtainable by all players with a relatively high amount of play time. The problem with this game is that it doesn’t know what that even means. Grinding the challenges out every week is a massive investment that A LOT of people do not have the time/patience for.

MCC has a nearly perfect weekly challenge system, and a system that 343i themselves designed and created. The only reason that Infinite’s is different is because they wanted to pressure their players with FOMO and artificially extend playtime. There’s no other reason for it.

The ones in MCC are better. They’re very timesink heavy; I’d honestly prefer to be more performance based other than just play a lot.

MCC doesn’t have any cosmetic reward for completing all their challenges though. Nobody will care about those items if the challenges are easy enough that Dad’s that are only willing to play 2 evenings a week can unlock them. The people that are willing to invest more time into the game would be disincentivised from continuing to do so; they’d get nothing out of it.

I agree, the final challenge is a bad design.

For a company that doesn’t want players to experience FOMO, they sure do create reasons for me to log in regularly. Like Winter contingency? Are you seriously going to penalize me for not logging in on Christmas Day?

Glad to see 343i expects us to understand things will have to wait until they get back from Winter/Holiday Break, but don’t respect us players in the same regard.

They do though, through the exchange. It’s not a direct reward, sure, but you get points and the only real place to spend those points are on customization pieces in the exchange.

EDIT: And although they might be individual time-sinks, I can dedicate an afternoon to completing them and it doesn’t feel like I’m wasting my time. Really, the big problem with Infinite is dolling out only a handful of challenges at a time. Having a “complete 4 games of ranked” challenge, only to get it and receive a “win 3 games of ranked” challenge, even though you did just win 3 while completing the previous one does not feel good. Having your last challenges be “kill 25 enemies with the Sidekick” feels horrible because in the grind to even get there you got probably 100 sidekick kills. They need to up the requirements for individual challenges so that it actually takes a week to complete them, lower the total number of challenges across the board, and make all challenges available from the start of every week. They can still have random challenges and swaps with this system. Maybe give us, like, 10 challenges a week but pull from a pool of dozens. Obviously I wouldn’t want that. Random, challenges and challenge swaps are extremely anti-consumer, but 343i is going to 343i. At least it would be a compromise.

That event starts today though. Unless there’s something specific happening on Xmas day that I haven’t noticed.

It requires you to log in and play every day for the next 10 days. Advent calendar style.

That’s a bad time. I’m going to have to miss out.

Yeah it used to be that way. Now its win X ranked games of a certain type. I didnt think there was anything wrong with old system. As a more casual player, I found it easier the old way. Now this last week was shoving ranked down our throats. I dont play ranked because, i suck at it, and I get spanked over and over and over, and its beyond frustrating. I guess i dont really care about it this week, because its was just a stupid back drop. Also, didnt 343 say something about getting rid of the final challenge anyway? I could be wrong, but i swear i read that somewhere.
